He owned it maybe 20 years. Paid to have it restored and you can see how they did the work. It looked slick.
Then he stubbed his toe and landed in the fed. pen for 9 years. I bought the car when he got out and it was a disaster from being impounded for over 8 years. I amassed some parts and was ready to start turning nuts and screws when he decided to buy it back. He made it worth my while. And he has paid me for my time involved in baby sitting it.
The last shop screwed him for about $8K and we had to literally steal the car out of the shop as they closed the doors and pulled the sign. That is a story for another time and place but I digress.

When it rolls out of our hands it will be in full beast mode and looking the part.

I wonder what the engineers were thinking when they came up with the X-frame design. Just seems really inconvenient for things like driveshaft and exhaust.
In truth it was to get the roof line and seating position down. Lower. Which it did. But as the Horse Power increased the ability of that design to contain it shoed that something new was needed hence the 1965 Chevy perimeter frame.

I have owned so many of that era big chevy from the days we were an off the books car dealership....:):

    I loved them.

This one is getting the treatment. We are sitting down by it tomorrow with sketch pad a tape measure and a pot of coffee. Let the gusset cutting and welding begin.

So with the rear end out on the floor I can get the dimensions from it so the 12 bolt I have for this car can be set up to hang in its place.
The 12 B is out of a truck so I figure it could be a bit to long and sure enough I have to take 2"s off each side for it to fit. New control arm mounts and a set of custom axles.

Wouldn't it be easier just to take 4" off one side and save a lot of work? :)

After a brain storming session this morning and a pot of :coffee: we have devised a plan to get a wider rear tire under it.
Now we are gonna have some fun.

Received the CORRECT subframes yesterday so started dummying them up in the car tonight.

I decided to upgrade the cradle bushings and bolts for the IRS I'm putting in the car and naturally they're both back ordered. Guess that'll give me an opportunity to do the front brake upgrade while I'm waiting on those parts to arrive. Man it feels good to get back out in the shop and work on the toys!
