Its amazing to me how we disliked how Trump was treated yet so many here have become what they hated. We can disagree and debate positions amongst each other without name calling like school children. That behavior just reinforces the stereotype liberals have of us. We have the opportunity to take the high road and lead by example but no one seems to want to.

I used to try to take the high road, lead by example, but all it ever got me was mocked, laughed at, insulted, threatened, death wished upon me, you name it.

Taking the high road and leading by example doesn't work with people who treat you like that. It gives them absolutely NO reason to change their behaviors. If you want someone to understand you, you need to communicate with them in a way they understand.

The gutter hags stay in the gutter. They don't come out. You want to stop them? You have to climb into the gutter.

Instead of worrying about who can be nicer to each other and who's name-calling, we need to focus on protecting our rights. Namely RKBA since this is a gun forum, yet most aren't.

I have been the nice guy. Taken time/energy to present a level headed and info backed opinion and even escalate into arguing but have been met with name calling screaming and just childish behavior. Oh and lest we forget the race card. You can not reach the brain washed. Once the grey matter has been soaked in the Koolaid its over.

What do you mean by thus far? 4 years isn't that long of time and frankly the entire period people were becoming worse to each other. You can disarm people with kindness. Im not saying you can go to an (insert protest) and change a mobs view in 5 minutes. But listening to people and being respectful will win over more people than flat out making fun of them.

I think i've seen you post you're a man of faith. Did Jesus hang up on that cross and say, "screw these ungrateful people. I did all that good and look where its got me."? No, he prayed for them. Im not going to get all preachy but you can catch my drift. Giving up and becoming a jerk to everyone because they think differently isnt the answer if you want to advance your cause, it does the opposite.

I think Jesus has the ok to judge man. I dont really want to turn this into a religion thread. I know many on here are of that faith and I think they understand what im saying.

OK I see your point but yes, I am a man of faith. Actually a walking talking breathing example of the power of prayer.
Long story for another time but in this I have not given up I am just ready to change my approach to asshats and idiots. Many of which are in my family unfortunately. I will sit and discuss about anything with you in a civil manner. But when the names start up as you are not making points my patience wanes. I have been on this rock a long time and survived about the worst stuff life can throw at me. In this I do not suffer fools very well. Just dont. Especially this level fool.
If I am among adults with even a slightly open mind I will do my part but this whole high road thing (no knock on you sir. I commend you actually) is getting to be a burden. To the point we have pretty much just stopped trying. CKW and I were deeply involved in several 2A groups and a few political efforts. A lot of energy and money spent and pretty much wasted. Looks like its time for her and I to let you all pick up the baton and run with it because I am of no mind to be kind right now. Not for a while.

And yes 4 years is a long time. For me it is easy to measure what's left in front of me because I know what's behind me. 4 years is possibly a lifetime for me and others. So please know there are more factors involved for some of us.
