History tells us whether they’re right or wrong. Antifa thinks they’re right. They’re not as far as I’m concerned. Trumpers think they’re right. I kinda think they’re not. At least not completely right. Certainly not right enough to storm the capital building. But history will write about who was right.

Certainly not the thread for this type of discussion but....what? History is the only thing that determines right or wrong? There is no objective moral truth?

So can we know “protest” (read as: undocumented shop) in the streets because a citizen was deprived her due process and was summarily executed for trespassing?

Depends on who writes the history and how it is presented.

Actions must be measured against a moral standard to make them justified. It doesn't matter if antifa thinks theyre right if their actions aren't justified under that standard. They are wrong because we live under a moral standard that says they are. That same standard says that the founders were justified in wresting their freedom from the king a placing it on our individual hands. We are not as free as we were and it's not going back on its own. Conceivably, the people will be morally justified to take the steps the founders did if we continue on this path at some point. Hell, Jefferson said we would have to. The argument comes in where we draw the line. I think this is where the varied responses to the events of today originate. Everyone's line is different.

There is the United States Constitution. And then there is all of that other crap... The District of Columbia needs a Deep Cleaning. I mean a SERIOUS DEEP Cleaning. Make every single politician give up their pay for a year and give it to the American people. And smile when they agree to that. Our Government must be shrunk back to the size it was when it started. It has become a monkey on our backs and if we don't get it off it may kill us all. We do not need HUGE MASSIVE Government and filthy rich politicians like Pelosi.

Historically, the line was when the continents declared independence and the Brits declared war, that’s when we fought. Or when the south wanted secession, and the north said no, we fought. So maybe it would come to that if no peaceable secession was possible. I’m on the side of “I pray it never comes to fighting”.

The biggest mistake will be to dismiss this as just a protest that got out of hand, rather than to recognize that people have finally been pushed too far.
Why, these poor folk were compelled to drive far from home and break into Congress and demand it fix a problem it didn’t create and has no responsibility for.

Where were they in AZ? GA? PA?

Best solution is still for every state to leave the union and leave DC completely impotent.

Then when we decide we need some federal level organization again, we can use the constitution's framework to re-establish it.

This is not a system that can be cleaned out anymore. It must be completely done away with and rebuilt from the foundation up with the lessons learned along the way.
