    Tombs,
President Nixon encouraged him to become president, discussed it with him.
Can't help but suspect he's had preps for this meandering between his ears.

I voted for Trump to be a wrecking ball against the status quo political establishment...

Never thought it would be as revealing as it has been. It is clearer who is in bed with the political establishment, those in the media, industry, politicians, and military who are going out of their way to suppress news, gin up fake controversies, and chill actual dissent.

Trump needs a 2nd term to clean house.

He didn't go far enough, he should have fired any holdovers from the Obama administration for starters.

I can only speak to my own reasons.

Question, which group has been more detrimental to nation; politicians or businessmen? And if you don't mind, explain your response.

WTAF? Really? Politicians have easily been more detrimental to this nation. Most just going into their positions to enrich themselves. They have made themselves the ruling class of this country, as they do in pretty much every instance everywhere. While businessmen and women create and run businesses that employ people, create products or services that people will pay for, help our economy and help us to be the most powerful nation on the planet. Yes, there are and have been some businessmen and women who do despicable things, but I think we can find that at every level of society. By far businessmen and women have been more beneficial than politicians for our country IMO.

Our President has a "sleep over" with a "dancer" gets caught and calls her a horse face on twitter. I expect more out of our leaders.
You really can’t vote morals unless you don’t vote at all. If you think you can, you probably have some rose colored glasses on that highlights the faults of the other and hides the faults of your side’s.

Trump is not going to clean house. I don’t know what gave you that idea. I don’t think that house can be cleaned, for one thing.

That house is so deeply intrenched that no 1 man can clear it out.
We have the power to make the biggest changes (at least to the ones we can actually see)but refuse to uproot the bad and replace them. Then wash rinse and repeat on the next cycle.

The real swamp is those massive Gov. buildings with alphabet titles lined up with power seeking beurocrates (Sp) that we never see yet thy effect us each and every one on a daily basis. That is the swamp. And we are powerless to make any changes.

The only way to clean house would be to gut the agencies. All of them. Even DOD. They’re a swamp too.

Read my post just above yours or were you responding to that.

I truly believe the FBI has always been a seriously corrupt political tool. And all the way down the alphabet.

Yes, I’m agreeing with you. The agencies need to be gutted. Massive layoffs. In the process that may also turn Virginia red again.

I agree, I used to have to travel to DC every so often when I was working on a project, you'd go into govt building and just see endless cubicles of people doing who knows what. We need to cut a swath through these federal agencies but I wouldn't do massive layoffs. I would offer early retirements or buyouts and then just shut things down through attrition. There's really no need for something like the Department of Education, education can be managed at the state and local level just fine.

    False choice...

Individuals in both politics and business have hurt and helped the nation at various times...

Mostly, the average worker has been f'd over by both.

His handling of covid, tariffs, russia, china, failure to denounce white supremacists, his inability to understand basic concepts, his recent tax "discovery"(provided it's correct), his flip floppy ways in regards to firearms and marijuana, his attitude towards women, his stance on healthcare.

    Now I'm not a supporter of Biden, I'm not a libtard I'm not a democrat a d I'm not a republican.

I'll be voting for trump this election mainly because biden/harris really worry me.

I'd just add that I think dangerous individuals in government can cause more harm than dangerous individuals in business. One could argue that's a distinction without a difference. The thing that sets the two apart is that a government, with good and competent people leading it, can stop harmful businesses, if they're motivated to do it. The opposite is not really true. A good, competent corporate leader only has the influence of his company. A bad government leader has the power of the state.

I think the other criticisms of Trump are fair, but not denouncing white supremacists? That's a far stretch that the media has seemed to make stick in a lot of people's minds. It's true enough that his communication skills are horrible. His language was imprecise. It's astonishing how many times he's been asked the question and answered it, then asked again as if he hasn't answered it many times before. It's pretty clear that the purpose for the question is the same as the purpose for "have you stopped beating your wife?" It's a specious accusation, not an actuall question.

Yeah, denouncing something over twenty times isn't enough for some people.

We could debate the other policy issues, such as his handling of COVID19, china, russia, etc, but that's not the purpose of this thread.
