So... Which side of the USSR did it come from? Smell of shattered dreams and tears or the proceeds of stolen profits of the workers?

Beats me! :): It does have a good seal. I do know that I wouldn't want to have to wear it for very long. Hopefully it never comes to that! I'll have to have my shopping trip well planned out. ;)

I've yet to feel a need to break out my respirator and N95 filters, but... you're making it look like fun!

As a side bonus, I've used my respirator out in the shop for over 10 years now, so it has the battle hardened appearance that I think could turn a few extra heads. Like I really had a tough drive to the store. :D

edit: Also, FWIW, N95 filters have expiration dates. Being that the listing for those masks said they likely came from 1988, you probably want some new filters before you actually count on them.

I don't know if Amazon ships from Russia.

I believe the listing you originally provided said they accepted "standard" filters. I can't even begin to guess what a "standard" gas mask filter is, but, I imagine that info is out there. I started going down that road myself, and had 2 of that mask in my cart, and then I decided I'd wait for you to answer those questions for me. :):

    Maybe overthinking that "standard"
    acceptable options include
    - campfire ashes
    - wet moss
    - rocks
    - balled up socks
    - enemy cigarette filters
    - Spirit of Stalin
    - Pride of the Soviet Union
