Got the idea for this thread from another but didn't want to thread-jack.

    I remember when gas was $.35 p/gal and cigarettes were $.37 p/pack.
At this time you could still smoke on a commercial airliner. As a matter of fact, TWA used to give away cigarettes in a 4-cigarette pack upon request. Regular or menthol...

You could also purchase "Jarts" at this time.
Oh yeah. I'm pretty sure .22Lr were around $.25 for a 50 count box of Winchester.

I remember working at the gas station, when I was in high school, when gas went over a $1/gallon the first time.

What country did all this occur in? That place sounds awesome.

I remember being able to walk to and from school, or riding my bike to the local pool all summer long. As long as I called mom to let her know where I would be, everything was fine.

I remember myself and my brother, at age 9 and 11, going camping by ourselves or with other boys, in the woods by the river, miles away from home. We were free-range kids before it was cool.

I remember when the science teacher went around the room with a bottle of mercury and an eye dropper, and he gave each student a blob of mercury on their desk to play with.

My wife and I spent and hour trying to get our 7 and 5 year olds to understand how things used to be. Camaras and getting the film developed, tv with 5 stations and no DVR, corded phones etc. It was a lot of fun. That reminds me of this.
