So what's going on with Beech Grove Firearms range? I called the other day and they said they still haven't settled with the insurance company. Something's not right here.

They've been saying that for awhile now, I know things work slow in this type of situation but anyone heard anything more detailed?

Supposedly the insurance company is trying to give as little as possible, and they are fighting pretty hard to get what they think they deserve, so it is taking much longer than expected. I heard they should be open before the end of the year, but that could change...

For those in the Evansville area, Uncle Rudy's Indoor Range ( http://www.unclerudys.com/ ) will be opening up shortly (was supposed to be open at the end of July). I went to their open house a few weeks ago. The people/workers/owners are nice but the guy I talked to didn't seem like he knew too much about the overall rules. For example, I asked "Since you are selling reloads (Freedom Munitions was stocked on their shelves for sale) and Steel cased ammo, is it safe to say you are going to allow them to be shot in the range?" He said he would have to ask. No big deal except his name tag said Assistant Manager on it. Surely a Manager would/should know the answer... They are going to allow up to .308 to be shot but the longest distance they have is 25 yards. .308 might not be very fun at that distance lol.

Right To Bear Arms in Haubstadt is a really nice range and they have a decent selection of firearms and ammo in stock. I've shot there a handful of times. They don't allow steel cased but they will allow you to collect your brass. They will sweep it all up for you too. If no one else cares to keep their brass, they'll sweep all the brass to you and you can take it all.

There is a new range opening by McOrmicks Creek State park on Aug.29. It's called Precision Gun Club. Right now they have a outdoor pistol range with nice shooting sheds that should be heated for winter,a 150 yard rifle range that next year will increase to 450 yards. It looks like it's going to be nice. A big plus is the people running it, a very nice group of people. Once I get the ok I will post the telephone number for them.

Anyone know of a good gun shop/shooting range close by I69 in Fishers? I haven't had that much opportunity for range time lately, and I thought I might be able to sneak some time in during my lunch hour on occasion.

+1 For Point Blank in Carmel. Had a flyer which I used and had a great time. Registration is a long process but after talking to them, it should be pretty quick next time since I'm on their system. I might consider one of their memberships since there is no time limit unless they are very busy.

Just to confirm. I drove by Minnehaha (the old DNR range) the other day and it is definitely officially closed. There is a large berm along the road now to prevent vehicles from parking. It's obvious however that people still shoot there.

They also just opened one in greenwood. It's a nice facility. The registration process wasn't too bad. I just had to give them my ID.
