This is crazy, I spent 5 hours reading and posting posts. There were many other post that were the same and many that were a lot shorter. What's the difference between reading and posting 5 hours one night or doing 5 hours over a period of 5 days. Spending 5 hours of my own time in one sitting deffiently shows I have interested and dedication to this forum just to get shot down and my post removed. Being a guy that is just getting into collecting firearms and reloading, I was expecting a little bit more support. I'm sure there are member that think I'm waisting their time and breath, but this "newbie" or "young pup" is trying to learn and be part of what I thought was a good site, but now see it is being run with politics and political views. Its 2015 guys and there is a new breed of guys wanting to be apart of something good but are getting shut down because I spent 5 hours inONE night and posted longer post then some people, but the thing I am confused about is why people are saying I did it fast to be able to post on classifieds. Its unfortainate people jump to conclusion and don't know the whole story
Oh wait isn't that what's wrong with the world today!!

No one is trying to shut you out or discourage you from learning more about the shooting sports or firearms in general. You have access to a wealth of information in this forum. But you must hang around and contribute for a little while before having access to the classifieds.

The rule was the same for all of us, so I don't see how it's all about politics, as you mentioned. Well, I take that back, it is like politics in one respect. You can pay to be a site supporter and bypass the rule.

The rule is that you need 50 "quality" posts. Not one liners. If you spent 5 hours racking up 50 posts, that averages out to a post every 6 minutes. I'm not sure how one can read through a thread, formulate an opinion and type up a response every 6 minutes.

If you just want to sell a gun there are plenty of places to do that. If you want to stick around, get to know the members, add to your knowledge bases then you should hang around.

We may have jumped to the conclusion that you quickly spit out 50 posts to get to the classifieds because you quickly spit out 50 posts and went straight to the classifieds... and then started a new thread because you had 50 posts so you should be able to use the classifieds. If these were not your intentions great, but if it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck most people think it is a duck.

Stick around, this is a great place to hang out and learn lots of firearm information.

I saw everything that you posted almost right from the start. Were you aware that some of your posts were removed when you were in the mid 20s the first time? I doubt you even noticed. You put no thought into your posts and it was clear they were only designed to get you to your 50 posts. The very minute you hit your 50 you went straight to the classifieds section to sell something. It's been said time and again, this is an Indiana firearms community even more so than just a forum. There is a classifieds section that is a perk for contributing members. There are quite a few people here that are friends in real life. More than you would think. There are meet and greets, organized shoots, people helping people, etc. There is a thread open right now about a member who is building a very large fire pit at his house. Other members have volunteered their time and helped him. There have been members with very sick kids and thousands of dollars have been raised and donated in a matter of days to help out. When someone comes in and deliberately violates the rules and makes no effort to put forth enough thought to type something out that's worthwhile then people take notice. You bounced from thread to thread and pounded out one line statements as fast as you could. That's why you got the smack down.

The first two are all different threads you posted in and the how long ago that post was. Notice how fast they came and how they are all different? Also notice the time in the top right. The last was immediately after you hit 50. Right to the classifieds. Several members saw it, several members reported it, several mods saw it as well. Now those that missed it and asked about it can see it too.

As I said before. We're not doing this to be mean to new members. This is a tight community and that's just the way it is.

Oh yeah. Noticed quite a bit. There are several of them I won't deal with. Just on a short list without names:

Member since 2009 has 59 regular posts and 641 in classifieds
Member since 2008 has 58 regular posts and 396 in classifieds
Member since 2008 has 502 regular posts (respectable) and 3524 in the classifieds
Countless members that don't contribute anyplace outside of the classifieds.
Members who aren't vendors and have a couple dozen different guns for sale ALL THE TIME.

I am a member, since 2009, have over 6000 posts, and STILL don't know if I have 50 "Quality" posts.....

THAT is why Fenway GLADLY accepts my money, every year .....

First, welcome to the forums. Sorry you got butthurt because you didnt follow the rules.

Hang out! Put up some meaningful posts. Something with thought behind it. Not just "I agree" or "Cool knife, I have had one for years.".

As others have said, this is a communtity that just happens to have a classified section. One of the great reasons the classifieds are so good is because of the rules and what it causes; it causes people to get to know you as a person, and know you are here to be a part of the community. If you just want a place to sell your stuff, go to armslist, craigslist, etc. This place isnt about the classifieds. Its about friendships and conversation. The classifieds are just a convenient way to buy/sell gear.

Hell, I've been know to send stuff I'm selling out immediately and "cross ship" while the buyer is arranging payment. Why? Because I know the person is upstanding and if he stiffs me there are about 3 others in his/her immediate vicinity that would kick his a** if he stiffed me. You dont get that from Craigslist. Hell, on Craigslist anymore I feel like I need to bring armed overwatch to sit back and watch the transaction from afar due to all the crazy stuff happening there. I dont have that here.

And you will also have people that unless you are selling at a crazy price, will look right past you if you are one of the types listed above that have less than 60 non-classifieds posts. We want to deal with people we know. If you are just a flipper or a classifieds whore, we dont get those warm fuzzies.

Ive made some good friends here. Hopefully you stick around and make some too. This is an awesome place.

You guys are brutal to the "young pup" .....and yes you need thick skin to be on this site. Hell I have been slapped around a few times for this and that...whether I agree or not to the policies of this site, if I want to stay I must abide by them. Even when I have been in the right several times and have proven it to the mods and been "bullied" for it, I am still here because in the long run I have made many friends and have had some great deals come my way. All the kid wants to do is be part of the team....give'em a break.
And no there is not more to this story and we are not from KY....By the way Print Craft how's your sister?

Thanks for the kind words camera monkey, there's a huge difference between constructive criticism which you applied and criticizing someone.

    Yes.
    There is.
I'm new here, but by no means a novice to interweb forums.
So having recently been in your shoes, perhaps I can add some perspective.

I went "the hard way" and got my 50 posts. It took 3 or 4 days to post up some thoughtful posts. I'm not sure it can be done in a single sitting. At least I couldn't do it.
And it was a valuable exercise. It made me read a lot more in depth than I would have otherwise.
As a newer participant, I appreciate the rule. And I think it is a good one. It gave me some insight into who the players are on the field.

If you just want to do the classifieds thing, pay the $50.
    It's not a large fee.
