Hah! There actually was an INGO moderator (at least one) a few years ago that I tried to put on my list, only to learn the sad fact you relate above. In the good news department, that individual went on my list without significant delay when they no longer had moderator status. Sometimes things do work out!

My doctor said my levels of tin foil were getting too high and recommended the use of "ignore" in place of medication, which can cause hair loss, hair gain, explosive bowel movements, loss of depth perception, and hallucinations. My memory with names is bad. I use ignore list for people who do me wron on a classifieds deal so I don't forget them and get stood up again or something.

I have 5 or 6 on my ignore list, and one who I will give a "timeout" occasionally, by putting him on ignore for a week or so at a time. My ignore list actually spills over to my workplace, too. There's a guy at work that I just can't stand, so I ignore him mercilessly. I've had to apologize to other coworkers for accidentally ignoring them when they walk up while I'm in the middle of working on something. I'll see them walk up out of the corner of my eye, but I think it's the "one who must be ignored", so I don't acknowledge them being there.

As of 0200 HR on 08 MAR 2014, my IGNORE List now totals 93. This includes three new additions within the last hour! Woo-hoo!

It also includes some userids of people who were banned from INGO. I'll bet it also includes a few who were banned under more than one userid and both are on my list.

I think I'll go over 100 before April.

I don't use ignore, I just ban! Seriously though, for what reason(s) do you use the ban option? Is it for people with whom you disagree or because they insulted you in some way?

I use it for basically 1 of 2 reasons and neither are really insults or disagreements.

1. The member deliberately posts in indecipherable slang resembling hieroglyphs.
2. They turn every topic to their own agenda no matter how far the stretch. i.e. "cop hate" or making every thread about crime racial.

I have been known to issue temporary ignores to people if it becomes clear they've abandoned logic and reason in a debate. No need to raise blood pressure by continuing.
