Besides the big names, anybody have contact information for someone who can either build a pole barn, or provide the materials (ie. kit) for one? Approx 32x28.

We have done our own and gotten the metal from Ramco near Rochester. I'm not sure how far they deliver but they may do kits also. I'm not sure. I believe Menards and similar stores sell kits.

Menard's metal is a very thin gauge, and the paint/coatings scratch easily. Try to find somewhere that roll-forms their own metal and get it straight from the source. A poll barn is VERY easy to design and there are several software options to help, some that are free. Using these, you can get a material take-off and shop around for cheapest components. Most package deals are low quality pieces (windows/doors,etc), and are not customizable. Designing it yourself will allow you to choose sizes, locations, quality level. A good General Contractor with an in-house design man will be helpful too.

That is probably why my husband always orders our metal from Ramco. They have many colors available and deliver on a roll off trailer so they just drop it right where we want it. Always cut to the lengths we need. They do the trim pieces as well. Amish company with good customer service.

Menards has some pretty good packages on standard sizes, and used to have a computer station where you could design your own, then print out the material list. For someone to put it up, check with the owner of the new indoor range up in Westfield, from some of the pictures on their website, it looks like he had an Amish contractor put it up. From my experience, the Amish are very good carpenters and do good work for a reasonable price. You may find one that will also design your building.

Not sure where you are located, but down here in my neck of the woods we use a little family owned place called Coy's Metal. They sell kits and can set you up with an local contractor to build it. They are at 1106 W. 750S. Trafalgar, IN 46181. 317-933-2609

I don't have anything to contribute to this thread except what I heard a long time ago. When you're building and garage, shop, machine shed or pole barn build it at least 25% bigger than you think you need.

I just got done ordering a kit from Menards. I ordered it basically to have a pile of lumber to work out of, but if you want to build it right off of a menards kit I would plan on adding at least 50%.

My Kit included 2x4 band boards, and 1 perling in the middle of a 10' wall.

Stay away from Milmar. Our barn was to be done by Thanksgiving. Nothing has went right from the start of the project. Still dealing with them, a crew is here now putting up the doors and they are supposed to pour a floor this week to finish it up. We shall see, not the first time they've said that and not followed through.

quote from DIY pole barns wasnt bad either. 7,000 including delivery for a 32x32 with all of the same options as above, except non insulated windows which i am trying to correct now, but shouldnt add more than a couple hundred. they also put their trusses 4 foot on center so i will not have to put the perlings on end and toenailed. I am probably going to upgraded to laminated 6x6's instead of the 4x6's and that will cost just under 400 bucks. so an extra 1k over davies for 128 square feet more, trusses will be easier to put perlings on and will be stronger, everything else being the same. Decisions Decisions.
