Some people just look for an excuse to not do things. "A bad part of Indy" is a common reason for people to not go to gun shows or other events. Pretty lame. As others have said north of I65 on Lafayette road is not a bad part at all. I suggest re-evaluating yourself and find the true reason why you don't want to go. I plan on being there if I don't go to the Run and Gun event that day.

From the people I have talked to that are going (I work in Greenfield) the prices will be through the roof. Speaking with a guy recently that was going I got the impression that alot of money will be tossed around, making a deal for us 'average' guys unobtainable. I will not be in going but wish the best to those that make the trip. with local gun shops going to buy, collectors, and online bidding...it'll be a zoo.

I went to a large local gun auction many years ago that was the same way.

By the way, does anyone know if the auction house has any no firearms signs? Not that it matters much as far as legality, but I know some folks don't want to support a business that displays these.

Also, don't forget the added 10% fee in addition to the transfer fee:
"A 10% Buyers Premium Will Be Added To All Sales."

OK I need to carefully plan how many lottery tickets I can buy, sell a couple of cars, buy a bigger safe, and hope I don't get out bid too many times. But unfortunately in reality I'll probably just go for the show and admire the classics. Maybe I can afford a magazine or two.

It sucks to be held in a bad part of Indy, at least enough to keep me away.

Lol where you live snow? Where the milkman delivers bottles of milk daily? Where cops rescue cats from trees?
Everyone's white as snow and nothing ever bad happens except someone having a dispute on Old Ednas peach cobbler.
And where the sherrif carries one round in his revolver.
    Please.
That area is going to keep you from wanting to go? The local dopeman isnt going to out bid you on that Garand

Now the 20$ fee, the hype, has anyone really scored a great deal from an auction?
650$ wasr by the time biddings over, 550$ used glock, 350 for a used 870.
Your right PGR all common sense is lost by then, then it becomes a battle for who has the biggest wallet and no brains.

Or someone just reeeeeeealy wanted a 2000$$ Polish Akm.

I might be all wrong but i myself can find better deals online.
He had a nice collection but there isnt a single soul there leaving with a deal.

I wonder what percentage are stolen guns. I see that 3 have already been removed. I imagine more may follow as the true owners identify them.

i have been to few gun auctions and there are almost never any deals to be had so if that is your reason for going then stay home. Now if you are a collector and need a few choice pieces then bring ur wad of cash and get ready to rumble.

I usually buy in the first few and drive the price way over what it's worth just so people won't bid against me later when something I want comes up. People just figure that guy has more money than sense, oh how wrong they are. There is a lot of strategy when bidding at an auction.

I frequent many estate sales and auctions, as long as you keep in mind the buyers fee and don't bid over your limit ur g2g. A lot of the auctions Ive went to recently guns have sold less then retail. For example last week a mp40 went for 350.00. With this auction not having Web bidding u might score a deal.

I'm a little worried about how many folks will be there bidding. I've heard a lot of talk around town that a lot of people will be there (with wads of cash). I'm going anyway because there are a few guns in that collection that I'd love to have. You never know. You can't win unless you play the game.

Well if this gives u any idea of prices. I heard one gun shop is sending a representative with instructions to bring back certain guns no matter what the price. Now how can the average joe compete with that?

I am sure there will be others there that have unlimited funds at their disposal as well.

Well maybe the gun shops with wads of cash wont be looking for the same guns I'm looking for to complete my collection. They might not be bidding on the Hi Point 9mm that I pick up for $250. I will be sayin "Ha Ha see ya sucka's" on the way out the door.

It really depends on the auction. I went to a gun auction at Christies once and picked up a Marlin Mod 60 for $65.00 which I considered a decent deal considering they were selling for about 100-130 at the shops at that time. And I saw a Winchester 1897 12ga go for less than 200 at the same auction. Because people were more interested in some Carbine conversion kits and pistols and hunting rifles. Looking at the list there are a few oddball things the may go at a reasonable price. It all depends on what people are looking for. Also since there are so many of those Johnson's one might be able to get one at a good price simply because once they get to a certain point many will say I'll wait for the next one. Who knows that is why I may go for the entertainment value. I'm definitely going to the preview.

Don from dons guns...the foremost firearms expert says there aren't many worth much there. So obviously he is prepping to buy them cheap and stack them deep!!
