By the way, I hope your wife got a hefty fine for that lit butt. I am from CA and out there IIRC we have $1,000 motor vehicle littering citations! Honestly they should charge everyone who does that with multiple criminal charges, like destruction of property, attempted murder, or come up with a new criminal charge just for that.. All the fires people start in CA from doing that, firefighters having to go to hospitals, homes burning....

Attempted murder for throwing a lit cigarette butt out of a car window? Are you serious? I'm glad we're not anything like California, I've lived there and wouldn't go back, comparing the dangers of starting a wildfire in the dry grasslands of California and currently rain-soaked Indiana. How many cigarette-caused wildfires did Indiana have during the drought last year?

I remember driving down the freeway and the entire median for miles was on fire once. No doubt what caused that....

Not as big of a problem here in IN, but still... there is absolutely no reason to throw out a lit butt... or to be smoking at all... or smoking in a car... makes it smell terrible, lingers in your in-cabin air filter.... yellows your interior... ick

Why in the hell do you care what a stranger's car smells like? Any more declarations?

-At age 18 I received a speeding ticked for 78 mph in a 40 mph zone on an empty country road.

-At 19 I was arrested for underage drinking and spent a night in jail

-At age 20 I received a $20 ticket for a seatbelt violation. I was wearing the seatbelt under my arm instead of across my shoulder. I was unaware that was illegal.

-At age 22 I received another $20 seatbelt ticket because I wasn't one in a pickup truck. I was stationed in California but home on leave, and I didn't know that law had changed

-at age 26 I received a $20 ticket for parking on the wrong side of the road in a quiet neighborhood in Avon. This is not enforced in many locations around the state

I'm now 27. How horrendous is my credibility now that I'm displaying my criminal record for all to see? Maybe the OP is lying, maybe he's not, but I fail to see how his record is "proof" that everything he has said regarding this incident is a lie. Lotsa stones being thrown...

I have already gotten to the bottom of this thread.

The trooper is from CA too, and he hates when smokers throw out lit butts. That's why he gave them such a hard time. He didn't want to pick on a drunk woman so he went after the OP with the long list of run-ins with the law.....

Didn't say it was proof that anything was a lie? Quote that... IIRC, I actually acknowledged that the events probably did happen. And said the trooper didn't like him so he gave him a hard time, a really hard time.

Hmmm how did I make it to 21 without underage drinking, and 78 in a 40 ( isn't that reckless driving?) Guess I'm just special. And seat belts only go on one way, any other way is wrong... not that difficult.

Parking on the wrong side of the road and especially on street sweeper days.... ohhhhh boyyyyy don't get me started on that one. Another thing I propose... instead of towing and tickets San Francisco needs to get a crusher... flatten every car that is parked on the wrong side of the road[, and if it is on a street sweeping day, flatten the car and charge them 1,000 for the service.

Oh man... and now it reminds me of our local post office here. Outdoor mail box, to drop off the mail as a driver you have to be on the wrong side of the road... it means get your butt out and walk around your car....

The only part of that post directed at you was regarding your overreaction and rant about someone who committed the cardinal sin of throwing a cigarette out of a car window. The rest of it is directed at those who must have a squeaky clean record (no tickets even) that have ridiculed the OP's account of the story based on previous violations.
