I was downtown eating brunch today. The walk has been uneventful just like the past two.

No one freaked out, no women went running away screaming.

I did not participate in the walk but was curious enough to want to see how the general public viewed it.

Talking to the manager of Panera bread, she was very supportive. I love there lunch sandwhiches.

I figgered that would be the case. A lot of the people on the gun boards seem to panic easily, and they are like sheep, So one starts panicking and posting the sky is falling and then a whole herd of them start panicking and follows the first one off the cliff.

It is obvious a large portion of gun owners are sheep. Obama didnt force anyone to pay inflated prices on guns when he was elected.

Turn out was, well, disappointing. Downtown was pretty well empty except by the mall, of course. I was really expecting more people to be there. My daughter even came! Fox59 and RTV6 were there. They followed us the whole time with cameras. Unfortunately, I didn't have the money to go eat with the rest of the guys so we're home early. Saw IM as he was heading out of downtown.

Most people we encountered seemed receptive, but there were a few people that seemed worried. Of course that's always expected. One person I encountered on the way back to the car looked really nervous, but I talked with her for a second and gave her a flier and she seemed interested. Gave her the address of the website and she said she'd check it out.

On thing I was (not really) shocked about was that the protest group never showed up. :laughroll: I was so looking forward to seeing those people make a fool of themselves. Sadly, no one showed up heckling us, no one ran away screaming dialing 911, no one showed up with signs calling us social retards (however, I suspect that K40 was among those ghosting us), and it generally went very well.

So to the nay-sayers who were freaking out and worried......

    WE TOLD YOU SO. ;)

Glad it went well. While you won't see me participating in OC events, I do respect the right to do so. Hopefully, there will be more visitors to this site and they will only see the positive comments instead of seeing us **** and moan back and forth about small issues.

One way the media could spin this bad is that there seemed to be very few people downtown. I can see them trying to say that RTV's report scared people from showing up downtown in force like they figured they would.

That's about the ONLY bad thing I can see them spinning this toward. Now that I think about it, they might try to use that as their story now that I posted it.

:D I had to. You know I had to. ;)

Yeah, I know. I really would like to hear about the number of people contacted and even the things that could be done better, next time. Maybe someone could start an after action review thread to talk about the positives to build upon and the negatives, which can be discussed to ensure they are properly addressed the next time?

Being one of the skeptics, I'll add my congratulations on an uneventful event. My guess is the media being there virtually eliminated the potential police "harassment."

Thanks for the good time, guys. Although small, it was still an enjoyable event.

If anyone finds out if the story is online or when it'll be on TV, be sure to post it here
