    A friend's wife shot herself at a match several years ago, as a result of this very phenomenon (I don't recall if it was a toggle thing or just a piece of jacket that got into the trigger area, but the effect was the same). In addition to removing potential trigger-pullers from clothing, it's also a reminder to take an instant and make sure your holster is clear before you put the pistol back in. No prizes for speed-reholstering, and all that.

    Don't forget to make sure your shirt or clothes in general is clear of the holster. Fabric clumped up can set it off. Almost had it happen once

    I always coon-finger my holster (not my gun!) to make sure that it is clear before holstering. In addition, I always use my weak hand to hold my shirts close to my torso allowing me to visually inspect that the holster and trigger guard are clear while holstering. Be alert and be safe!
