    SCOTUS strikes the contraception mandate

SCOTUS: "HHS's contraception mandate substantially burdens the exercise of religion."

Supreme Court says employers with religious objections can refuse to pay for contraception.

Another big SCOTUS win for freedom.

You may have jumped the gun just a bit on this one. They haven't announced a ruling yet. The SCOTUS Blog only has one ruling so far and that's on forced union dues.

It's a very narrow ruling. While it may apply to a mom and pop corporation I'm not sure it will apply to many of the others out there, like the catholic church or major corporations.

The court stressed that its ruling applies only to corporations that are under the control of just a few people in which there is no essential difference between the business and its owners.

Yeah, there's going to be some issues with the definitions, I expect.

That this entire thing was even up for debate demonstrates that the government is far, far too big.

"The court’s four liberal justices called it a decision of “startling breadth” and said that it allows companies to “opt out of any law (saving only tax laws) they judge incompatible with their sincerely held religious beliefs.” (Supreme Court's ruling sides with Hobby Lobby on contraception mandate - POLITICO.com)

Yes, just like the founders intended...do what you want to pursue happiness, just don't make the rest of us "be happy" with you.

The discussion re: Concern that unelected beaurocrats are making wide sweeping policy is interesting. That could have beneficial repercussions in further cases in which these agencies get to create "legislation."

Funny, they are alleged to be "against women" but damn near all of their customers are women everytime I take my mom or daughters in there. <shaking head>

Leftists treat women as inept, and unable to go to a Target and spend $5 on pills.

They also fail to mention the 16 other birth control options that Hobby Lobby DOES offer.

A liberal is someone who thinks Republicans are waging a war on women, but that the Muslim world isn't. :):

On that note, this particular statist compared Scalia to Sharia

    Because it sounds the same.

Also, Gov Bobby Jindal knocked this out of the park:

Yeah my facebook feed has lit up with this news. All people saying how stupid the ruling is and once again the SCOTUS is making a dumb ruling. Ummm. So forcing a private company to buy something that they don't agree with is protecting freedom?
