Any thoughts on why WCD in Columbus failed? Columbus needs a real gun shop...what could a purely hypothetical new shop do differently to succeed?

I only went there twice, but some negatives I noticed included:

    Bad location
    Incomplete interior finishing
    Privacy invasion with ID scanning

    Other thoughts?

    Poor marketing

I never went there. No idea where they're even located.

So maybe you add marketing to the list because a gun guy should probably know where you are if you are in the gun business.

Good point! I think I just happened to see them on google maps...that's the only way I found out about them, and it was complete happenstance.

These have already been mentioned, but personally, I stopped going when the ID scanning started. I think lack of publicity would have to be on the list since most people I talked to hadn't heard of them.

I followed them on FB. Seems like shortly before they announced their closing, they had an episode where they announced they'd be closed for a family emergency or personal reasons or something like that. With the suddenness of the announcement, I kind of figured it might be due to an illness or family problem.

I think they were too ambitious. I liked the shop and aaron. Tammi was/is overwhelming. They seemed to continually keep reaching for new markets that just weren't there between their training, ranges, retail etc...

It's also a packed local market. Phoenix, stockpiled ( my fav), atterbury, dunhams, rural king, columbus pawn, internet... it's a saturated slow market. Seymour has acme and btb, greensburg has 4 different shops.

Knowing both of the owners, I'm aware of the reasons for closing the doors. It is something unfortunate and unexpected. The concerns mentioned above are not part of the major reason for their closure. "Family Emergency" is an apt description, IMHO.
