Having been to several Barrett-Jackson Auctions (working, not buying) I can say there a bunch of people who will throw too much $$$ at something like this.

I saw SN 001 T Bird go across the block in Scottsdale a few years ago, went for $600K, but it was totally restored after having been wrapped around a tree. I actually spoke to the daughter of the 1st Owner, according to her, it was bought for scrap.

I've also seen quite a few so called 'storied cars' with documented histories that couldn't meet what the owner wanted, so he/she 'bought it back' and sacrificed the auctioneers cut rather than lose $$.

Owned by the Roosevelt's! OMG! BFD! They obviously didnt care enough to restore it. Might make a pretty cool barbecue grill though.

I've been around cars since I was born. Started working in a body shop at 16 and still here today. We just painted an '84 911 all over and it'll be leaving today so it's funny you posted that. I'm not a Porsche guy so I wouldn't give a $100 for any Porsche.
