Curious as to whether MCF&G might be open to adding the .450 Bushmaster to the approved cartridge list. I assume their decision is based on concern of velocity as opposed to size? I see they allow the S&W .500.
Are you a member? Have you been to a board meeting to bring it up?
I've always understood that the criteria used to determine club approval is that it must be a rimfire caliber or a traditional pistol caliber. At this time I don't know of any pistols chambered in .450 Bushmaster.
Yes I'm a member. I know it can be brought up at monthly meetings but was just wondering if anyone here would know if that cartridge would even be considered. It is my understanding the bullet used in the .450 cartridge is a pistol bullet. Your point on there not being a pistol chambered for the .450 was one thing I was wondering about.
To possibly ok a cartridge for use based on whether there is a pistol chambered for a round or not IMO make little sense to me. I would think velocity/muzzle energy would play a bigger part seeing where MCF&G is located. Seems to me the .44 mag would have possibly been rejected if it had been brought out as a hunting round first.
Guess I'll have to bring it up at the next meeting.
