Trying to hash out a deal with a friend that includes these two firearms and I’m wondering what the value of them would be, I’ve got no good clue on where to start.

The 1890 is in 22 WRF, and the model 16 is 22 remington autoloading.

The obsolete calibers hurts the value but the tang sight is a big plus. The electric pencil is a big negative also.

Several years ago a 50ct box of WCF was $20 so I marked that on off my list. The Remington Autoloading is even more scarce. Proprietary ammo is always a big drag when looking at older firearms. They are still fun to look at but will not be a daily shooter unless you were the guy who gave Howard Hughes a lift years ago...

Yeah LGS by me has 22WRF for sale (at least a case or two for a better than online price) so that one is at least shootable.

The model 16 being in a cartridge that hasn’t been produced since the late 20’s is a bummer, and I’ve been mulling over the possibility of relining it and chambering it for 22lr.

I doubt the model 16’s “collector value” will be diminished by making it usable, the penciling is a nuisance, but it seems to be very shallow and possibly easily dealt with.

I would put the Remington in the "good" category at $600. The Winchester (I assume is a third model from the pic) with penciling as "fair" would be $450 plus another $100-150 for the tang sight. If it were "good" the price doubles.

To bad about the markings. I know some guys that look for WRF guns with a tang sight, not particularly a 3rd model, they really look for the early guns.

I think Mongo is in the range, maybe a little on the high end.

The Winchester is according to serial number a 1911 year (457xxx) if my research is correct

Yep, the third model runs from 325XXX to 853XXX. The external notch for the bolt to lock was the giveaway.

I am using the Standard Catalog of Firearms for my pricing.

Ended up dragging these things home, and I know I shouldn’t have, but the electro pencil on the 1890 got to me, my fingernail barely grabbed it meaning it was only a few thou deep, a little TLC later and it was gone, ran thru 100 rounds flawlessly.

Not old enough to remember gallery guns, but this little beauty performed excellently

It absolutely is; action is nice and tight, no issues extracting or loading; definitely gonna keep a spot in the safe for a bit.

I was eyeballing the one in my LGS for a while, but when this one popped up, I had to get it. Better than 22 shorts in my opinion.
