Photos of AR15.com | Facebook sorry for the Facebook link,

The pic is of many aimpoints in a pile getting ready to be shredded.
    1. why were they taken out of service?
    2. why can't we ask aimpoint to fix them?
    3. why can't they be sold to civilians?
    4. How long has this been going on?
    5. why have you done nothing to change it?

"Some good news is that some gets reutilized to local police departments... But it's not legal for civilians to get them... I've been doing this for 3 years so its nothing to me anymore"

"Military issued... Can't sell military issued equipment to the public"

There's you answer why they can't sell them to us...sad, really.

Government: complains about being in debt up to their ears, regularly destroys perfectly legal and sale-worthy merchandise in good condition that people are ASKING to buy.

Governments made up of dumb-asses; that's why.

At the very least the uppers should be removed and sold. I can see the lowers getting trashed because of the "Once a machine gun, always a machinegun" thing if they were military issued. (The photo wouldn't load for me, so I apologize if they are obviously semi auto)

Hellz, I have some AR 30rd and M9 mags that have "restricted-law enforcement/government use only" stamped on them. I can go to the store or online and buy an aimpoint. These fools are just being wasteful nanny statists. "Oh, let's make a show of how regular people shouldn't be allowed to have this stuff; it's so scary". Money is apparently free now that they can just take it from us at their whim, or worse, take it from our descendants.

You should see the equipment and material that gets disposed of at the plant (where i work) rather than being put up for sale. There are several reasons they do this. Among them are they afraid of liability claims by the purchaser and it costs money and resources to conduct the sales. It's a shame.

The same happens to just about every kind of product. When Harley-Davidson (spit) shut down Buell, there were GIANT DUMPSTERS full of motorcycles and parts that were going to the crusher. Race bikes/cars are constaltly destroyed when they are factory supported. I work for Schlage (locks/access control), and we throw TONS of "warrantee returns" in the trash. Most of the time they are perfectly good, the user just didn't know how to use them. I live by the phrase "One man's trash is another man's treasure" and make sure that I don't throw anything away if it could possibly have value to someone else. That's what craigslist is for.
