    Hidden Lake at Glacier National Park, 3mi hike in (downhill) and 3mi hike out (uphill).

    Cutthroat trout for DAYS in the clearest water I’ve ever seen…glitter black 1/8oz Rooster Tail was on fire.

    + whatever (lost count) on the BWCAW. I took my son the first time when he was 9. It was great. Just keep in mind that you will be doing the lion's share of the work which is okay. We then went on to do 8 more trips over the years, the last one when he was 29 when he did the lion's share of the work, lol.

    He also did a 10 day solo trip when he was 19.

    We have always went out of the Gunflint Trail with a "tow" to American Point and went in from there.

    I could help you with a trip if you decide to go that route.

    The appeal of the Boundary Waters is: lack of manmade noise; it is the quietest place I have ever spent time in. No distant sounds from vehicles, no barking dogs, even the planes have to fly at 4000 feet.

    Then the fishing. There is not much pressure so the fishing is easy so if you are a novice like my son and I were, you will still catch dinner.

    And third would be the lack of people. Once you make 2-3 tough portages, you are pretty much on your own.
