My first most accurate 22 is a Remington 512. This was also my first rifle, and I still have it.

A couple of years ago I acquired a 39a. It is equally, if not more, accurate.

marlin model 80, bolt gun. Dad gave it me 50 years ago, could literally drive nails at 25 yds, was the end of many groundhogs and squirrels. Stolen from truck about 20 years ago, still miss that gun.

    under your bed!!!
I have an early model Marlin 25n that was my grandfathers that is more accurate than I could be with iron sights. I also have a 39a with an eaton 4x scope that I can shoot moa with just about everytime.

My 10/22 i do not do well with, I just cant get used to it. I got it for the wife and she doesnt like to shoot it much either.

I have quite a few 22's including a ruger 10 22 and a marlin 39a they are both good rifles but my most accurate is a Mossberg 151 with factory peep sights it has been a very good rifle that you never hear anyone mention a great rifle for the money

I have a Mossberg 151 and I can say it is about the most accurate open sighted rifle I have ever had. It was also a great buy.:D

Old savage model 3a! Found it in a chimney of a old house next door to ours, when dad and I were tearing it down to make our yard the biggest on the block. Great old gun!!! Part of my allowance was a box of 22 shells every couple weeks!

My most accurate 22 is my Ruger 77/22. Very accurate rifle, I have made head shots on squirrels out to 125 yards. My 10/22 with a Green Mt sporter barrel is a close second. My Marlin 60, which was my first 22 over 35 years ago, is still a tack driver and has killed more squirrels than I can remember.

My first 22 was a Glenfield model 25 22LR. It is nothing to look at but it sure does the job. I actually just had it re blued and the stock refinished. It is just a good solid shooter!

Of the RF rifles that I've actually used to hunt, my old Marlin 39M and the "Westpoint" (proprietary trade name for some firearms sold by Western Auto stores back in the day) M60 have been the most consistently accurate. As a very young man, I once had a cheap old Marlin M25 series BA that was phenomenally accurate, but foolishly swapped it off for something fancier.

Of the several .22 RF "sporters" that I still own, I've obtained my absolute best group from a bench with a strange-looking Brno ZOM 451 straight-pull BA, a cheap BSA 6-18X "Sweet .22" scope with an AO and Lapua Match ammo: five rds into 0.38" at 50 yds. Never been able to repeat that, but consistent 9/16" or a bit under are easy.

Since the only other rifle I've ever had and been able to consistently get into that same ballpark with was a Winchester M52-C, to say that I was surprised is a rather large piece of understatement.

My most accurate 'factory' rimfires.... would have to be my Anschutz 1416D and my old Remington 541S. Both are exceptionally accurate, out to 75-80 yards, offhand, if I do my part.

An early Kimber of Oregon Model 82 22LR, that shot 10 shots in an inch with a low power scope. No big deal, right? Well, I replaced the scope with a Leupold 12 power, and now you can cover them with a dime at 50 yards. The rifle does mediocre with the expensive Eley Match, but absolutely loves Winchester Standard velocity 40 grain solids. Switch to Hollow Points, and groups enlarge a little but 10 shots go in a nickel. Purchased used....

This thread gave me an excuse to look at the data I stuff into an Excel spreadsheet but rarely look at. I have four 22 rifles. The comparison is at 50 yards using a rest, cheap ammo, my limited marksmanship, and measuring the extreme spread of 5 shots. An H&R M12 with aperture sights is the most accurate averaging under 1.1 inch. The M12 is too heavy to bring hunting. A Marlin 99C with a 4x scope is the next most accurate averaging under 1.4 inch. I don't use it for hunting because the action doesn't cycle on subsonic which I prefer for squirrels. BTW, this rifle is for sale in the classifieds. The next most accurate is a Remington Targetmaster 510P with aperture sights (my first gun bought in 1959), averaging 1.5 inch. I have never used it squirrel hunting but should try it sometime. My regular squirrel gun is a Savage Mark II with a 4x scope. It averages 1.7 inch.

In order CZ 452 Varmint, 452 American, 452 FS, Remington 541T, Ruger 77/22, Marlin 39 (1953!). I don't hunt but these rifles all shoot very consistently for me when I do my part and use the ammo each one likes. ;)
