OK, KLB is my hero of the week, no month, wait...possibly year. The Olight S1 showed up this afternoon (gotta love Amazon Prime) and the initial impression is most excellent. Not only is it activated by a button on the side rather than a twist bezel, it has a magnet in the base, it is smaller than my beloved Fenix P1D, it has a belt clip which makes for an excellent grip on the little light and puts out 500 lumens. Yes, you read that correctly, 500 lumens.

I've carried this Fenix religiously for many years. If this Olight proves durable I believe it will be better in every way.

Thanks for helping me spend my money. Amazon delivered one of these today (Sunday, got to love Prime shipping) and I'm very happy. It fits nicely in my pocket. Love it so far. Man is this thing bring. The moonlight setting is cool too

NITECORE SRT 3 Defender- VARIABLE brightness control bezel, strobe, sos, beacon... (so you can read a menu in a restaurant for instance without blinding everyone else.) up to 550 Lumens. Has multiple functions including a red (and a blue) low power beam. Blue is kinda worthless except for the function when it alternates between flashing red/blue. (If your sitting in your buddies back seat, try it in the rear view mirror...) (Red is great for preserving night vision as I'm also a Pilot....) Uses either A123 battery or one AA with included spacer piece. (i like the 123 for size however).

Drawback is that it will EAT 123's because of the brightness. Solved problem by getting two rechargeable 123's and swap them back and forth every couple weeks.
(Note: Fits well in a 10 MM Magazine leather holster from Galco...) My flashlight "Draw" is amazingly fast ... due to a lot of practice... haha

Zebralight SC62. 1000lumens the size of most AA flashlights. Lights up a whole neighborhood and the rechargeable 18650 lasts a lot longer than the CR123 batteries. Can't go wrong with any Zebralight. I have owned all the other brands and this is what I always go back to. ZebraLight, Inc. | Official Website | Flashlights & Headlamps

Hoosier45- I can't send you a private back until I get 50 posts. I will answer you back here. You asked about problems with your zebralight on high. Sorry to hear about that. That doesn't sound right. What kind of batteries are you using? I don't think you can use 123s. I think you have to use only 18650 rechargeable ones. If that is all good I would either ask for an exchange or call zebralight. I never had that problem. My zebralight has always worked the way it should.

Using 18650 rechargeables. I sent an email to zebralight customer service. Thanks.

I am now trial running a portable cellphone battery pack with a 100-ish lumen led on the end. It saves me having to carry both a cr123 flashlight and a cell battery pack in my back pocket at work.

I carry a little Gun Shack P2 I got a couple years ago off of Gearhog. It uses a single AA battery with an adapter, but take the adapter out and it is about an inch shorter and runs off a single CR123. It has a bright, dim and strobe settings. Very durable and bright. I think it was $20.00?

I do not generally EDC carry a flashlight. I do, however keep several of the 5.11 ATAC flashlights in my laptop bag and trauma kits.

I usually have a light near at hand, but if I am out and about, my closest light is usually in my vehicle.

Lots of love here for the Fenix PD35 and it is well deserved. Those who like the PD35 might also like the UC35, which is essentially the same light, but comes with an 18650 battery and is rechargeable via USB cable.

I've had good luck with Bushnell flashlights.

I started with this little 140 lumen Tracker. It has 3 settings: white light, red, and uv blue. Not bad for $19.99. Runs on one AA battery.

Santa brought me this pen light for Christmas. Also $19.99. Runs on 2 AAA batteries. Just one setting. On and off. 100 lumens.

I've found myself carrying this as my primary. It's about 5 inches long, but because of the slimmer profile I find it easier to carry.
