Basically it works like this: he hands you money, you hand him the weapon.
Just don't knowingly sell a firearm to a convicted felon or someone that you know to be under the legal age of 18.
Whenever I sold a gun to a private party, I only sold to people with valid LTCH's. I at least then know they passed the required background checks.
DON'T go by that last post about a LTCH...I am a firearm lover, but just not interested in concealed carry, so I don't have a permit. I hate it when that's a requirement , if u ask for it , u will miss a lot of quick sales...from good people I might add...
So do you go to the range with your handguns? If so, then you need a LTCH as required by law (as Scutter has stated above).DON'T go by that last post about a LTCH...I am a firearm lover, but just not interested in concealed carry, so I don't have a permit. This is also a possibility, but for people such as myself (under 21) it would be impossible, and you could dissuade some people that would otherwise buy a handgun from you.If you want to be as safe as possible go to a local FFL and have him/her handle the transaction and do a NICS background check on the buyer. Most of these guys shudder at the thought of any paper trail but millions of transactions thru FFL's take place every year.
If there was NO paper trail that showed you purchased the gun from someone in the past (i.e. gift or cash purchase), then remove all fingerprints from the gun and sell it for cash only.
