What do you think about Savage Rifles?

Have never owned a Savage rifle. Have heard good and bad. What does every one have to say on the different Savage rifles.

You'd be hard pressed to find a better out of the box rifle in terms of bang for your buck. Most Savage rifle models provide excellent value.

Love my MkII .22. Very nice target rifle at a good price.

MkII is a tack driver out of the box and the accu-trigger is the nicest factory trigger I've ever squeezed.

I bought a savage axis in .308 combo with a scope as my first high powered rifle. After 3 shots and 3 adjustments out of the box I was zeroed at 100yards. It's tough to beat out of the box for an entry level rifle.

i have a factory plane jane savage 10fpsr in 308. with factory fgmm i shot a 5 shot group 1.1 inch at 200 yards. that is a little better than average, but it averages 1.5ish @ 200 yds. i hate the stock, i hate the mag, but the accuracy for the price can not be ignored

I had a Savage 17 HMR that I could notget to hold a group.
But I am very certain it was the scope
not the rifle.
I also have a 110 heavy barrel 308
That is a very straight shooter!
IMO they are great guns for the money!

I have owned a few, a couple of 10FP's and currently have a MKII heavy barreled .22. All have been tack drivers. Not quite a solid or smooth feeling as an old Model 70 or 700, but you can't beat them for the money. You start off with a cheaper base rifle which allows you to out better quality optics on an get more range time. You can upgrade the stock later on after you shoot it enough to decide what your needs are.

I owned a savage 110 in 30-06. shot great out of the box. I cant say there was anything negative to report.

I have a savage 17hmr and I have not picked up my other guns since I bought it. It is so dang fun to shoot and the accuracy is amazing.

I have a Savage 17HMR that is a tack driver. One of my favorite guns to shoot and I absolutely love the accutrigger.

Love my 10FP. I have not been disappointed with it at all.
I bought mine a few years ago to go prairie doggin. I bet Ive got 1500 rounds through it now and it shoots as good as when it was new.
I used to have a 110 light-weight in .30-06, it was a real punisher.
The scopes on the combo guns leave a little to be desired.

I bought a 110 in .223 years ago. Out of the box w box ammo it was a very good 250 yrd gun. All I've done to it was lighten the trigger and take out some creep. It was right at $300 NIB
IF/When I see a Savage for sale I always give it a good look.
