I can’t tell anyone what to buy. I can only share my experience. My first pistol at 21 was a bday gift from my parents, I still have it. Rossi M88. First pistol I purchased a year later was a star .40. Always liked 1911’s, had full size toys as a kid of the 80’s so a 1911 grip felt natural. Traded the star for my first .45 1991a1 compact and haven’t been without a 1911 since. I did carry a Taurus 24/7 compact in .45. Great little gun. Miss it a little but I wouldn’t trade off a 1911 for one.

Thanks I haven’t shot a 10mm yet but I did hold my buddies M&P 10mm that thang was chonky very intimidating pistol IMO. How does that recoil compare to a .45?

10mm recoil really depends on ammunition and the weapon. It's considerably more stout than .45 with properly loaded ammo in a polymer frame, but out of my 6" 610 it's pretty tame. It ranges from .40sw to 357 mag in terms of recoil, but so much of that is dependant on other factors. Just for the record I wouldn't try on 10mm as a first gun for anyone, even with experience.

Ah I saw a couple SIGS today when I went to Bass Pro would have bought one if I was 21 honestly not badly priced at all. Fingers crossed I can find something at a gun show I’m going to in June or on the classifieds
An FYI, never make your carry gun trigger lighter. Even if you have a self defense shoot you could lose in civil court and lawyers would make a big deal about a lightened trigger.

Always remember, every bullet comes with a lawyer.

Glock 43x fits perfect and I’m about the same size. I also have a Canik MC9, Taurus G3C, Ruger EC9, and a Sig P365 XL. The Canik, Ruger and Taurus are all under $300. Never had any failures with any of them.

Yeah only issue is most private sellers charge more for them otherwise I’d go buy a Sig asap

Cool thing about the P365 is if you end up not liking the grip size, you can buy an X-size grip module from Sig, take the fire control unit out, and plop it in the new grip module. Boom, P365X.
And even convert it to an X-macro size grip module using the wilson combat "short" X-macro module and using 17 round mags.

What would you honestly recommend I’m not a small guy (5’11 260) and I have experience shooting 9mm, .380, .357, .45, .223 but I’m having trouble like choosing a first gun I want something reliable that isn’t gonna break the bank this will be the first pistol I will conceal carry. Was thinking about hitting up a gun show so I have more variety but I just wanna get a general idea maybe even throw out what you guys carry

See if you can find a range in your area that rents guns or a buddy that wants to drag his collection out to a range with you.

That extended mag release is interesting, I will have to keep it in mind. The stock release works for me but it is a bit awkward
It works really well for me. I had tried a different one (NDZ) that extended it outward a bit but after installation it blocked putting in a magazine.
