No, I said it would be easiest (for us to know when the S has HTF) if a UN division landed and started doing this. In reality, it will be local LEOs, aided by maybe BATF or US Marshalls. In other words, it will be just a "regular law enforcement action." And it won't be one a day - it will be dozens every day by every police department in the country. It would be days or weeks before it became widely known, and by then, how many would be dead, wounded, in jail, or had their rights violated by being forced to submit to searches and confiscations? Your picture would be shown on the TV news alongside the gangbangers who robbed the local gas station.

And, let's say that word gets out. What then? Do you expect every remaining owner of the forbidden gun to bug-out?

While it is definitely a SHTF scenario for those directly affected, I would guess others would be as willing to come to their aid about as quickly as everyone came to the aid of gun owners in New Orleans. And THAT happened in a short period of time, and was kind of reported in the media.

Okay then delete UN from my statement and insert federal and local authorities and my point remains the same. Let me redo the scenario with your exact parameters.

    80,000,000 Gun owners.
    "Dozens" every day......okay let's say 36

If the task forces stayed busy 7/365, it would still take approximately 6,000 years to get the job done.

There are 800,000 local, county, state, campus, and federal LEO's in service today. This includes BATF, FBI, SWAT, etc. That's 1 cop to every 100 gun owners. You can't possibly convince me that they could silently get away with this without any fellow gun owners knowing about it.

It will never happen, and that's the beauty of an armed society.

They can try....slow or fast.....but they will inevitably fail........even if it comes down to a massive revolution.

    Where's the bacon?
We have kept this within the bounds, but let's be aware that this is perilously close to thread-closing-type talk.

This isn't :mods: kinda stuff, folks, this is beware federal agents pounding down your door and shooting your dog kinda stuff.

Keep it on the correct side of the line, please.

    Thanks for your help!

    Blessings,
    Bill

Yes, but don't discount the millions of strict law abiding that WILL turn theirs in once the mandatory buy-back or turn-in starts. Look at England and Australia. Or Nazi Germany.

I would hope we, as Americans, would have learned those lessons, but this is a Country where the sheep are quickly becoming the majority. The elections were evidence of that. :twocents:

Bill, I'm really, honestly, truly trying to stay within bounds. I do think it's healthy discussion to present ideas on how they would do it so that we can at least recognize any possible signs. With that said, thanks for allowing the border-line discussion continue.

Guys, keep it tight. Just because we have freedom of speech doesn't mean the black suits in black suv's won't take it away.

Exactly!! There a HUGE percentage of the population that believes that, no matter how tyrannical, any law MUST be obeyed. Any attempt to go against this belief gets you labeled as a nutjob, whacko, or common criminal.

On a somewhat potentially related note, I just saw the MOST amazing thing on the morning Fox59 news. They were talking about the new proposed MANDATORY worker ID card which will have biometric information on it. It was introduced by Schumer and Lindsey Graham. Graham is apparently a well-known RINO, and everyone knows that Schumer's goal in life is to take us even closer to National Socialism. Anyway, there were a few people speaking out against it, one of whom was from the ACLU. He voiced concerns not only about the privacy issue, but also the fact that Big Brother can use it to track you, but he also voiced concern that it could be made a requirement that to purchase a firearm you must have and show that national ID card.

Think about it, any firearm you bought LEGALLY would be tied directly to your biometric information, along with all of your other information. Any purchase of a gun without using that card would be illegal, as would be accepting a job without showing that same card. I can imagine that ammo would have the same requirement.

We all (rightfully) make fun of Illinois with its FOID and big brother mentality, but this Schumer/Graham biometric national ID card makes Illinois pale in comparison. It's just one more step down the road to that thing which we are discussing here in necessarily vague and general terms.

But, since this national ID card is being touted as "immigration reform," anyone arrested for violating any one of its rules would be announced in the media as "arrested for immigration violations." How many of the more brainwashed "conservative" gun owners would go out of their way to support someone who violated immigration laws?

You and me both my friend:yesway:....I share a similar sentiment.......I would like to think that our generation will be the one to actually stop this from happening. I believe that the last election was more of an indication of the overall disgust with the current political situation. Hmmm, do I vote for a giant douch or a turd sandwich?.......Either way you're screwed. If the current administration continues on the path that it is on, I would be suprised if they made it the full first term without a complete collapse. I hope that this last election will prompt the right (or perhaps a viable 3rd party) to get their head out of their arse and get down to the nitty gritty about our ever evaporating personal liberties and door-mating of the constitution.

Back to the OP.....well , kinda........
I try not to worry about what other people would do. I firmly believe that our country is still a seperate beast from Europe, Asia, or Australia. I do not fear similar situations to occur here. One way or the other, the root philosophys of America will continue. There are still plenty of people who care out there and I believe that more and more are waking up every day.

In the meantime, love your family, be prepared, and never submit to complacency...............:patriot:
