Sitting around letting hulu play the old 80s show Moonlighting was on, in E2 one of the characters has an autoloader handgun that looks like it's a gas delayed action.. i don't think it is a styr ..
Trying to figure out if its a real gun, and if so what is it..

Back then wouldn’t be surprised if it was a functional handgun.

Yeah I know in the '80s filming television used many many real firearms on set.
This one clearly did not look like a prop made up gun. It was larger than a 22 I think it was 9 , the slide was split so that the barrel bearing and about 1 inch of slide stayed fixed to the barrel and the slide back half slid backwards and you could see the presumed guide rod under the barrel but that's what kept the front what I think is the gas block in place.

Later I'll try to get a screenshot when I'm sitting in my desk.

The back end of the gun was reminiscent of the old Colt 1903's I think the rounded rear..
Before they went with the more squared off rear end of the 1911.
