    Unfortunately a local judges ruling wouldn't mean a whole lot on this problem. The post offices are federal and if there was an issue you would be prosecuted in Federal Court. All that being said, a federal court judge wouldn't be any help either. You would need a ruling from either the Supreme Court of the United States or the Appellate Court for the circuit which Indiana belongs to. You won't get either until somebody is prosecuted on this issue (not sure they can or would based on the previous posts) and appeals to one of these courts and they make a ruling.

    A lawyer that spent some time researching should be able to determine what would likely happen but there are no guarantees in life or the law.

    My personal belief is leave it locked in the car (or motorcycle) and do your business at the post office. I personally avoid the post office like the plague.

    Could we all write to a local judge to pass a ruling on this?

    Or is that not the way to go about it?
