Citing a purported persistent health and safety threat posed by gun violence in Washington, a band of Democrats in the Evergreen State referred House Bill 2238 to the state legislature’s committee on finance on Tuesday.

I'm hardly surprised. I feel like we've seen this one before though, although there's a reasonable chance that this really could pass in Washington State.

What's next? Charging us for the ballot paper at an election as an end run around the constitution?

No, its not a poll tax. You are welcome to vote for free. You just need to pay for the special paper form that we give you to insert into the machine to record your vote on. The vote itself is free, so its not a poll tax.

Sounds like some politicians in Washington State need the privilege of unemployment.
William T. Kirk of Washington Gun Law produces excellent videos about Washington State's anti-gun derangement. Their legislature is loaded up with members who attempt to outdo each other in one-upmanship with the most outrageous and draconian anti-gun bills. The prolific bill originator, Liz Barry appears to be currently out in the lead.

I keep up with that channel on occasion and he usually does a pretty good presentation on everything, but the Washington politics are always absolutely wild.

While they're at it, how about a tax on voting?
    You know, a poll tax.
    A tax on a right.

    :xmad:

And, hasn't this been already ruled a 'no-no'?

I think there should be a penalty for suggesting something already ruled on.
You guys forget that 11% Federal Pitman Robertson Tax we have been paying since what 1934. It seems a few here have.
It's one of the best run Federal programs I've ever seen.
