November 24, 2010 self-defense shooting in Tampa, FL.
One dead in Town 'n' Country shooting
Click on the video in the upper left.

Of course, family and friends of the robber shot dead claim he was a good kid, wouldn't hurt anyone, was incapable of robbing anyone, yadda, yadda, yadda. Unfortunately, the robber's 16-year-old accomplice said exactly the opposite.

Now, as expected, the family of the robber is planning to sue the man who defended himself. The family will, first, have to find an ambulance chaser...sorry, personal injury attorney...willing to take the case.
No charges in Town 'n' Country shooting
Again, video in the upper left.

The shooting appears to be fully justified; still, the shooter is in for many years of expense and mental anguish. Beats being seriously injured or carried by six, however.

Avoid if at all possible. Shoot only if you must.

I'm not clear on Florida law but in IN, I believe the accomplice would be charged with felony murder for being involved in a felony where someone was killed.

Despite this being good news, it still makes me angry when the family of the criminal asks what the jogger was doing with a gun and cash. THE GUN IS TO PROTECT HIM FROM PIECES OF TRASH LIKE YOUR DEAD FAMILY MEMBER!!!

^^yeah and they ask why the JOGGER was out at that time of day, but think nothing of the fact that their kid was out at that time of day.

and the statement "who shoots someone several times in the chest in self defense, it makes no sense"

uh, where else did you want him to shoot?

Should of called the police. Vigilate justice must not prevail . im suprised at the decision not to charge the perp. it sounds like a careless gun owner who definately shouldnt own guns. The victim didnt even have a weapon, id like to see him rob somebody with no weapon.

And what should he have done till the cops showed up, called a timeout, he was assaulted and in fear for his life.

If you look at Dredd's comments nothing less than a police state with completely disarmed civilians who either obey every police command would make him happy. His ideology is the antithesis of freedom.
