It's easy to get complacent. It's easy to get comfortable, to get soft, to get distracted and discouraged.

It's easy to over think, over prepare and wait for the perfect time. There is no perfect time. The time is now.

This is a long read, but it's good reminder to focus on what's important, push ahead and take deliberate and meaningful action.

The Tragic, Liberating Message About Manliness Hidden in American Tall Tales | The Art of Manliness

Our modern cultural “manhood crisis” is nothing new. Such periods crop up repeatedly, generally when an industrial revolution (there have arguably been four), is coupled with a period of peace.

Machines negate the need for men’s physical strength, aggression, and grit, and there are no battlefields on which they can otherwise prove their courage. There is no existential threat that calls upon particularly masculine qualities to tackle.

In such times of technological ease and comfort, after men have tamed the wild and quieted the violence of crisis and paved the way for civilization to grow apace, society has the luxury of blurring gender roles; each sex is about as equally well suited for every task as the other. The whole concept of manhood seems obsolete.

Thinking is for people who lack the will to act.

It's not always just a lack of will, but often a lack of mindset. Increasingly fewer men (and people in general) take the time to think through possible scenarios and mentally prepare themselves to act.

Because many of us here carry guns and train/prepare for the worst, we've at least done some mental preparation that can help when it's time to act. A majority of people are content to go through life simply being comfortable and oblivious.
