If the burglary occurred in the early 90's the report would have been filed in ce06. This was a pre-justis program. You should be able to go to E100 in the city county building and get a copy from microfish, hopefully. Unfortunately the city turned it off a few months ago, taking away years of information contained in the reports. You'll want to get the best information you can about the year it happened and who made the report specifically to assist in the records search. A case number would be best if you can find it. It should be a six digit number that ended in FA or GA.

Ah, Interact... and how is that working out for you?

It's like punching yourself in the groin. The only good thing is when you can stop.

Case management is a cumbersome POS that was obviously designed by programmers who have zero clue what detectives do, is CERTAINLY not for a high volume major felony office, and is simply trash. They have updated and changed a few things to make it slightly less trash...but its still trash. Things that took me 2 minutes to do under the old software take about 10 minutes now. Simply printing a report takes over 12 clicks once you're already in the freaking report. Trash.

Yep, Interact only went back to April last year when it went online and Zclient only went back to '03.

I knew Interact didn't, none of the old files have been imported to it. Flag was the main one I wasn't sure about, as I don't use it much.

evansville pd calls the shop i work at every year and asks "have you recovered the firearms that were stolen from you?", my boss got pissed one time and said "you're the police, how could we recover them?"

oh and we keep the 4473's for 20 years, and once a year we have a hot dog roast, and burn all the forms from the last year!

everytime a person calls us and says "a gun i bought from you was stolen, can you guve me the serial number" i ask when they bought it, month and year, they always reply a few years ago, and they they get mad when i say we sell 4000 guns a year, i cant spend the time looking through a "few years of forms"

one time i had a call, and told the guy that i needed the month and year of the purchase, he said "i don't know!", and i said sorry i cant help you, the very next call was from a sheriff's deputy, and he said dont you keep records? and when i told him that yes we keep records, 4 thousand a year, he understood why we couldnt drop what we were doing, and look for the 4473 on the stolen gun!

i have a email, sent to myself, that lists all my guns, make, model, caliber, serial number, if somebody steals my guns, i have all the info, even if they steal my computer, all i have to do is go to any computer and print out the list for the police.

I have an SD card in my wallet with serial numbers of EVERYTHING I own, plus a list of all my DVDs, BluRays, video games, etc, plus important pictures. Some people say paranoid, I say prepared to file an insurance claim if I ever need to. Hopefully, I never have to, but I am prepared.

This is what I do. I send my insurance agent an updated document with all that info plus pictures every time I buy (or sell) a gun. I always save a copy of the most recently updated document on my yahoo account, in addition to my computer.

That's a good idea, however SD cards can be damaged, and a wallet can be lost or stolen. I hear tell that there was even a thread here on INGO about some fella that had his wallet stolen by a state trooper... ;)

:): That's fine with me. It's backed up on dropbox and my computer hard drive. There is NEVER just one copy. I keep it in my wallet in an SD card case. It's not just free floating. Apparently that makes me prepped for the end of the world according to my cousin.
