National Civilian Community Corps? Nat' C's?

(HA! See what I did there! :D)

Looks like a bloated Job Corps program to me....but it is something to keep an eye on, considering the source of the idea. I don't see a huge problem with voluntary civilian service projects aimed at infrastructure improvement, energy conservation, etc. If they start talking about mandatory service, uniforms, and military type training, that's another ball game.

Trying to do all of FDR's programs with a modern Democratic socialist spin. We better keep an eye on all of these new programs for our own good.

The Director shall take appropriate steps, including through outreach and recruitment activities carried out by the chief executive officer, to increase the percentage of participants in the program who are disadvantaged youth toward 50 percent of all participants by year 2011.

Oh, I'd like to see that defined....

Gentlemen we have more to fear from those ridge-running redneck kids south of the big smoke, as well as those independant and resourcefull kids from within the big smoke. They are the ones that can make it without government intervention. ;) Inner city loosely knit, fatherless, social dependant kids without direction are the ones we really need to arm. After all they have been down trodden for so long it's time to give them some get even trigger time. Mr. Prez is right.:ar15:

    Yeah, you bet!

This has been covered in multiple threads. The administration wants this to be mandatory, have a 3 month "boot camp" and handle military issues at home. These are the things that Rahm Emmanuel has talked about publicly and BH Obama spoke about on the campaign trail. These are facts, and are public record (at the moment).

Vigilance requires not burying our heads.

Great inner-city youths lets give them 3-4 months of "boot camp" training and discipline and send them back home to help out there communities. Where does this not sound like a painfully wrong idea on many levels. Even if you do not give them any weapons or military training you are given them discipline.

My biggest question is what are these groups going to be used for? I can see some pluses to this idea, however the negatives well out way them. There are historically many examples of how this is going to go wrong. That is what makes most nervous.

Just another run at socialism. The CCC in the Depression was ruled unconstitutional. Just another play from the socialist handbook. Remember that income tax was ruled unconstitutional and finally there was an amendment passed. The only thing these guys have going for them is tenacity, if they had brains too they would really be dangerous.
