I am considering the SOG Trident Tanto as a primary carry, general use, there when you need it etc knife. I am not real familar with the Tanto blade. Would be interested to hear any input.

I am a fan of tanto point knives. I currently have several and carry a Browning.Just ordered a Cold Steel with a san mai blade.Looks impressive on video.

I've never used nor carried a tanto-type blade...

But whatever knife you purchase, make sure it's not an "automatic" one. No-no here in Hoosierland.

The SOG have what they call S.A.T. SOG assisted technology. In other words assisted opening. The groove is for cutting line or cord without opening the blade.

tanto blade has been around for a long long time and is said to be stronger then the clip point and such. some are only sharpened on one side (chisel ground i think is what its called). but i have found the ones i own are just plain great. just one mans thought
