Say, whaaaaaat?? [EDIT: I get it. You mean a 440 stainless steel blade that has been coated in a titanium nitride powder.]

Wow, I really learn top condense my t**ughts. I just posted a diatribe in the life_is_2_s**rt_and_2_rough_to_carry_a_cheap_knife
that could have easily been summed up with your quote. :yesway:

LOL! Sorry man! Just use to dealing with Privates a lot. K.I.S.S. you know. As a someone who has spent a lot of his adult life worrying how the government got the lowest bid on stuff. I learned to spend good money out of my pocket on the stuff that matters...

Ok, I'll add my :twocents: here

I've carried an ExtremeOps knife for the last 6 years or so. My knife is more of a tool for cutting things than a weapon. Currently my life does not depend on it. I am more likely to lose a knife than break it, so I'm not dumping a bunch of money into something that may get lost, not happening. The way I see it is why spend more money on something that works fine as it is? The blade doesn't hold an edge as good as some, but it holds well enough for me. I sharpen it every couple of months and thats it. I bought the knife for $11 6 years ago. The thing that makes the lower quality acceptable is the life-time warranty. I've had my knife replaced 2 times and I've had many extra parts sent to me at no cost. Can't beat that in my mind.

    Advantages:
    cheap to replace if lost
    warranty if it breaks

    Disadvantages:
may break with it really matters
medium quality blade steel won't hold up as well as the premium blades
