Im trying to get two rifles ready for the appleseed. My biggest question is straps on both rifles.

    I. First rifle is a regular old 10-22 carbine. I have installed the detachable swivel bases in the proper locations, and have installed a "super sling 2+" on the rifle. This is a 1-1/4" nylon sling, like shown here:

The Outdoor Connection - The Super Sling 2+

I know they suggest a USGI style sling, but I had a hard time finding one anywhere. So will this fit the bill, or do I need to look for something different?

II. Second rifle is an M4 style AR15 carbine. Everyone has one of these, so what slings do you guys recommend that fits the bill here, specifically working well for an Appleseed? what kind of mounting do I need for the rifle?

    Thanks!

That looks like what I had on my 10/22. Just make sure It doesn't slide when you put pressure against it. I would recommend bringing a permanent marker or something to mark the sling when you get it set up at the appleseed.

Get a true web sling. These slip and will not hold tension. I.E. fail.

suggestions? It would be nice if it worked on both rifles, but NOT a requirement.

    thanks,

I would have been ahead of the game had I watched that video and practiced getting into prone and sitting positions before an Appleseed.

Cheaper Than Dirt has the M1 Garand slings for $11.95 - Tan Canvas - 1 1/4" wide with correct hardware. You just need 1 1/4" swivels on the rifles.

I use these on both my 10/22 and M4gery.

I've got Viking Tactics 3 point (?) slings on my ARs and Shotguns. Can I use one of those on my 10/22?

I just bought 2 M14 slings which I understand are like the Garand, but are nylon instead of canvas. They were $5 each at Trail Dust on Bloomingtons west side (off 45).

used USGI web slings at GI Joe's in Fort Wayne... $5/ea. I picked up a couple, one for 223 and one for 10/22. a little smelly, but they work. you may want to wash them first. (take buckles off before putting in washer!, unless you want an angry wife)

    Do you mean a VTAC 2-point? I don't think they make a 3-point sling.

Anyway, the VTAC should work, since it's specifically designed to be adjustable in order to accommodate a variety of activities, including its use as a hasty sling.
