Shotgun Receiver Question

What is the best paint to use to paint a shotgun receiver or is there a bluing you can use?

Birchwood Casey makes a cold bluing kit that is available @ most sporting goods stores and probably Wal-Mart also.

Hold UP! If it's a Mossberg it's aluminum and will not take the bluing.

Check the thing with a magnet before doing anything.

Check any of the "ACMEKote" products from Brownell's. They make them for both steel and aluminum.

I was looking around on the net and I seen someone use hi temp paint for a receiver and I guess it worked well

My main concern with high temp paint (say, engine enamel) is that it's pretty thick and may fill in serial numbers.

I do not know this for sure.
