shipping a handgun to CA?

How do I find what is legal to ship to CA? I have a guy in CA interested in purchasing a 1911 from me.

I wasn't aware of any special rules to ship to CA.

I've shipped guns thru US mail, UPS and Fedex. So I know their rules. But never came across anything about CA.

This is what you're looking for, VUPD.

If your gun, specifically, is on the list, then you can ship it to the buyer's CA FFL.

If it's not on the list...then no go.

If there's another brand pistol on the list, but yours isn't...still a no-go. (say there's Colt 1911 on the list, but not Nighthawk...then Nighthawk 1911 can't be shipped)

This list is why CBOB's are worth about 600 more used in Cali then anywhere else in the country, because DW didn't get the Valor tested

The List is even worse than you think. You must have the EXACT same model as is on the list. For instance, if you have a stainless gun and only a blued one is on the list, then the stainless is a no-go...
