Until further notice. This is the bridge that crosses the Ohio in New Albany on I-64. Traffic is being routed over the Kennedy Bridge which is I-65. If you are traveling in the area be prepared for LONG delays.

    I'm dreading Monday's commute.

Maybe I'll just leave tomorrow night & sleep in my office. :(

Instead of ranting for a couple pages I think it suffices to say that it's absurd to be in this situation. One of 3 very old bridges is now out of commission for an extended period of time. We sorely needed a new bridge before this happened. Now traffic on the remaining two bridges will be increased by 60%. Even if they fix it, it should certainly be replaced soon. I don't image this will help the Kennedy which is already one giant pothole.
Yet, we can't even build one bridge.

Construction should be started tomorrow on a new bridge. I don't care which one they build, just start something. But I guess River Fields won't let that happen...

For the interim I hope they reverse one lane on the Clark Memorial during rush hour.

As a stopgap it would also be nice if they finished the Big Four Bridge and permitted mopeds, motorcycles, etc. to utilize it.

I thought I heard/read somewhere that Obama is suppost to create jobs to build better roads and bridges. Not to worry, help is on the way.

Guess this is going to make getting to Knob Creek in October a pain in the butt. I'm planning my first trip down there and I'm glad I found this information.

Jeffersonville Mayor Tom Galligan says it could be closed SIX MONTHS.

The best part is that it's going to take 3 weeks just to finish inspecting the bridge.
So repairs likely won't even begin for at least a month!

I'd be surprised if its only a 6 month issue.

Knob Creek, need that bridge. Where is the next bridge that crosses into Kentucky from the West that would allow access to a decent E-W road to Louisville ?

Thank You Both, Rep Sent :yesway:
No problem! I live just a few minutes from the downtown bridges, but I usually go through Corydon and Brandenburg KY if I go out towards Ft. Knox. Lot less hassle than going down I65 and hitting the Gene Snyder to Dixie hwy. Plus, with fall coming, it's a gorgeous drive out through the Corydon route.
