    Just now I found in user preferences where to select "use default search engine" which fixed the issue entirely.
    Curious, what was it set to for you? Mine is currently set to use default search. There are options for Threadloom or Xenforo

    I'm not certain, but neither option in the menu that appears when clicking the search icon at the top right works correctly for me.

    "Home > Preferences > Preferred search method: Use default search" is the only way I've found to fix the problem I was having.
