    Any idea if this took any depth off the engraving (ie filled it in)? Ive been wanting to do that for a while, but still wanting to keep it past the legally required depth.

    Per website:
    The room temperature chemical used by gunsmiths and industry to blacken aluminum parts. Restores scratched and marred areas quickly. Fast-acting liquid is easy to apply with no dimensional change. Color will vary from deep gray to black depending on alloy. Aluminum Black Metal Finish is also excellent for blackening name plates, plaques, trophies and other engraved items.

    So take that for what its worth if I can find my dial indicator i will try to see what teh measurement is now.

    There's no way it fills in the engraving any appreciable amount. It's not thick like paint, it has a watery consistency. Also, most engraving is FAR deeper than required. No worries.

    That is what I thought to just had nothin to back it up looks like it maybe 1.5 microns thick or 0.000060" thick.
