It has been approved by the Riley Conservation Club BOD to continue the Carry Gun Match started by Coach. It will be the same format. Bring your gun and a concealment garment. Gun and magazines must be concealed. I will have a few club members helping so hopefully you won't have to paste. The goal is the same. Show up hot, all mags loaded, and shoot 60-80 rounds and then leave. $20 MATCH FEE.

Steve is checking to see if registration can be set up on practiscore.com for your time slot. If not, I'll take your requests by email. We will take 3 per 1/2 hour increment from 9-2 (may change depending on how smooth it goes).

Divisions will be limited (iron sights) and open (optic). Holster position is up to shooter.

More details as I remember them.

Thanks to Greg and Ralph in advance

Special thanks to Steve for approaching the board and investigating sign up through practiscore

For those that have never attended one of these, can you provide some additional details? Number of mags on body, number of rounds in mags, caliber, barrel length restrictions, etc. Or does this follow USPSA rules so as much as your stuff will hold?

Just wondering if I am equipped enough. My carry gun is a shield. I have an assortment of 7 and 8 round mags, probably 6-7 total. No mag holders for them though. They do fit loosely in my regular double stack mag holders.

I shot Coach’s version with a Shield last year. 3x7-rd mags is enough, but if you have more that saves loading time between stages. I carried the mags in my pocket. Usually he has a 6-rd mandatory reload, but you can load to capacity.

Equipment is pretty much anything goes, but remember the concealment requirement and the spirit of the name “carry gun”.

These were the rules at the carry matches I've been to including the most recent one at Parabellum:

"The philosophy behind this match is for it to be a shooting test as related to real world, every day carry that any armed civilian may encounter. It will be a match since we are keeping score. There will not be gun restrictions, nor caliber restrictions. The courses of fire will always be between one and twelve shots. A shooter will have to do a mandatory reload after a sixth shot in courses of fire requiring more than six shots.

There will be two divisions. Open, which is anything goes. Limited, which means no optics, lasers, lights, or ported barrels. The gun must be worn to the match and worn from the match. There will be no safe area for gun handling. The gun must remain in the holster except when on the firing line under the direct observation and authority of the range officer. After completing each course of fire the shooter will change magazines and safely re-holster and therefore be ready for the next course of fire. Prior to each course of fire the shooter will be given the opportunity for a press check. No sight pictures maybe taken during the press check.

This match will be shot from concealment. The gun and holster must be completely concealed while standing with both arms extended and raised to the shoulder level. All reloads must come from a concealed position on the belt or from a pocket.

    Requirements:

    Ear and Eye protection

Holster that securely attaches to a belt (No ankle or shoulder holsters)

2 magazines or speed loaders (3 would be best)"
