Based on the reviews here I bought a pair last night at the outlet store in Michigan City.

First let me say, it's not a discount location like other shops there. Everything is full boat retail :(

I tried on different sizes and the med, lg and xlg all seemed the same to me... weird. The clerk said "yeah, I don't know why they have sizes on them, they seem to be one size fits all"... lots of help there.

I almost passed on them, but they have a sign in the shop that says 60 day money back if you aren't pleased thing... I wanted to try them out today but wife had a birthday hangover so no range today.

Anyway, I'll be using them for the next 50~ days and see how it goes. I drove with them for awhile and wow, they are grippy... almost sticky.

I have to say that the items of UA gear that I have I love. I have used them for hunting, over seas, just about everything.

Yes they are a bit pricey but they are quality products and do the job they are made for well.

I got a pair this weekend at the Dicks in Plainsfield.

The style on the pair I picked up is 1006611, they look almost the same except with a white stripe so not as tacticool but they seem to work fine.

I can not use the touchscreen on my iPhone with them :-(

    *edit

This is me typing with them on, no backspace llallowed.

Alright, I've clicked all the links in the thread so far, and it looks like none of them are actually quite the pair available in stores. #1006605 has the fleece back instead of the "'slick' polyester" esrice mentioned.
It's possible, but those look like the outside is a type of fleece, whereas mine are more of a "slick" polyester.

#1006610 looks close, but I see that the finger is differently colored on this item, but in the photos of esrice's and Cru's gloves, the index finger is the same color as the rest of the glove's back.

Guess that leaves me needing to go to the actual Dicks Sporting Goods store :-\ I even checked the DSG website, but it only had 6605. :(

It's been confirmed that the number above is the item I reviewed. The picture on the UA site looks a bit deceiving because of the texture, but they are the same thing. :yesway:

I wish I could find an online source for them. I hate to tell you guys "check out your local Dick's Sporting Goods", but that's the best I can do at this point.

And thanks for the review rep guys. :ingo:

Seems like I always end up doing a majority of my shooting during the colder parts of the year. I'll give these a shot. Thanks for the review.

I have not shot while using them yet, I hope to soon though. I do use them for everyday though. They do make excellent driving gloves. I can also manipulate a bic lighter no problem. :yesway::yesway: again for the review. I had been needing a good pair of gloves. Mom said you paid $30 for gloves! I said, Mom I'll spend the money if it's a good product.

I've used these gloves (or a very similar model) since last fall. I love them!

They don't like wet, however. Once wet, there is basically no thermal protection anymore.

I found them to be a little too sticky at first. Now that mine are broken in, I can access items in my pocket much more easily. Also, I couldn't opperate my iphone with them on last year, but this year I can. I assume that is also due to being more broken in.

I think my pair will make it through this winter, but I'd be suprised if I got through another year without developing a hole somewhere.

    Just a short add-on review:

I purchased a pair of the UA gloves a few days ago and went to the range on Friday. For the most part, they were excellent, but I did hit one major glitch. I kept the gloves on while running a few errands- was able to write, put cash in and out of my wallet, etc with the gloves on. Very impressive. It was about 32 when I started out. I could just feel just the smallest chill through the gloves, but was fine.

Then I went out to the range. You do lose some sensitivity, which is to be expected. I tried loading some ammo and could do it fairly smoothly, but it was obvious that the gloves were getting caught on the steel lips of the mags and would not last very long that way, so I switched to my Lula loader. No biggie.

Finally, it was time to give my Ruger family a workout. I was able to shoot my compact SR9c fine. There was a small effect from loss of sensitivity while handling the trigger, but given the cold conditions was very acceptable- much better than the Hatch gloves. I was expecting to put a couple hundred rounds through my 22/45, but quickly ran into a mechanical problem (loose pin) that I couldn't field fix. The gloves were fine for the 20 or so rounds that I got through.

I wasn't expecting to hit the third gun, but I didn't want such a short session and I pulled out my LCP. I had 50 rounds to play with. This is where I had real problems with these gloves. The area between the trigger guard and the trigger is smaller than the SR9c and it was just a little trickier to slide my finger inside. When I fired, the top of the glove would snag between the frame and the trigger. I couldn't pull my finger out. I could still continue firing, but only after full releases of the trigger- no shorter trigger resets. I fought this problem through several mags and eventually gave up and finished the box bare handed. I could shoot with these gloves and the LCP if required, but was having a definite affect.

Your experience may vary depending on your fingers and firearms. Although I give these gloves high marks overall, you need to check them with your firearms, especially with your carry weapons. We'll see how it handles very cold weather, but they were fine for use in the 30s.

Can you describe this a bit more in detail? Or maybe some pictures? What exactly were you snagged on?

A slot opens up just above your finger that the trigger slides along when pulled back. Apparently, my finger is high enough on the trigger that some of the material sticks into that slot and gets pinched by the trigger during release. Never had any problem with bare-hands, but apparently I'm just high enough with the gloves to get caught.

Here are the two firearms for comparison. Note that the space to insert the finger is much smaller on the LCP. I have fat fingers which makes the LCP more of a challenge with gloves, though I do fine bare-handed. I also marked where the UAs were getting caught above the trigger.
    comparison.jpg

I did some dry-firing with both the Hatch and UA gloves. The Hatches were actually a little harder to get into the LCP trigger area due to looser finger tips, but the material didn't catch above the trigger at all. Neither are perfect for me on the LCP, but both work fine for the larger SR9c. People with thinner fingers might do okay with the LCP.

Glove comparison (given comparatively short/fat fingers and hands):

Under Armor Stretch Gloves (size XL):
    • Better overall fit, nicely snug at finger tips. Stretchy enough for longer fingers.
    • Excellent grippiness- Actually too grippy for driving gloves as the wheel won't slip through the palm, but good for manipulating small objects.
    • Very good sensitivity. Probably as good as you will ever see short of bare fingers or latex gloves.
    • Very good warmth for 30s and driving. Unknown for 0-10 degrees.

    Hatch Specialists (size L):
    • Not as good fit- Tighter in the hand, looser at finger tips. Better for long, thin fingers.
    • Moderately grippy. More slippery in the palm making them much better as driving gloves. Possible, but much harder to manipulate small objects.
    • Fairly good sensitivity, though not as good as the UAs.
    • Excellent warmth for 30s and driving. Usable at 0-10 degrees, but not for hours.

I used the Hatches as my daily as well as shooting gloves last winter and was very happy with them overall. I can't see using the UAs as driving gloves, though they do well at other tasks.
