Picked up a used WASR last week. I was hoping to shoot it this weekend but was gone all Saturday so couldn't get out today. I did sneak out to the garage to do a couple little things to my new rifle. First off was a single point sling swivel. I used the front along swivel from an M-14. Picked up three of them awhile back and used on on a fiberglass M-14 stock. Pulled the buttstock off and inlet it so the strap part of the swivel slid inside the reciever. Drill a could holes and glued and nailed it in place. Out to be impossible for it to come loose!
Second one is still a work in progress. Ive always liked the look and idea of the Galil upswept bolt handle. Being cheap, inventive, and impatient, caused me to look around the garage and see what I could use. A few folk make weld on and even bolt on handles. I found a junk, locked up Stanley 3/8" drive ratchet. I cut down the handle, shaped it, sanded off the chrome and drilled the top end to lighten it up, then welded it onto my bolt handle! Needs ground and smoothed out then blued but I like the feel!
I've got some other 'wants' but I'm going to wait a bit before I actually spend any money on it!!
