Ok so I havent even attempted to get another permit but id like to find out whatever info I can before walking into the local sheriffs office and applying for a permit only to get denied. I actually had my permit at one time but being the retarded teenager I was I lost it and my glock 23 in a plea agreement when I got slapped with a felony. Eighteen months later I got the felony dropped down to a misdemeanor and am unsure if my chances of having a permit again are gone out the window. Anyone know anything about this?

Well, I'm sure if they have questions about your record, they (local)will ask. The nice lady at Hammond PD told me this when I asked her a slew of questions. (I was worried I would get denied too) She flashed me a little list of names (appointments) and some were highlighted. Those were the people she had questions for.

And I'm just guessing here, but I believe the law says something like, never been charged with a felony, or a mis. that would get you a year or more in the clink. Also domestic violence, misuse of a gun, unstable mental history can/will get you disqualified. So, it depends on your end result and what you were charged with. (?) <~ Again, guessing through common sense, so I am here to be righted.

it was a possesion charge and I believe it stands at a class A miss now. I didnt recieve a year in the clink but I very well could have. Im guessing the first offense helped out alot, but then again johnson county doesnt seem to really care what offense your on. I was gonna go apply at the local county station but ive been told maybe I should go downtown which is where I got it the first time.

You apply at the office of the department that would respond if you called 911. Also, it's not that you were sentenced to a year or more, but that the crime you got busted for could have gotten you that long.

I'd say contact ISP and ask them. They're the final authority anyway.
