Question for COs and DNR types.

I'm going out tomorrow morning to scout out some new hunting land. It's private property and my friends and I are the only ones that have permission to hunt there. I am thinking of taking my AR to carry while we are scouting. Could having an AR with me be interperted as poaching?

I am interested in this answer too... Whenever I go hiking in the woods, hunting season or not, I carry my 1911... I would rather not run into problems with the DNR...

squirrels may be taken with any equipment, same with coyote.. get writen permission for coyote and you would be fine...

As far as carrying your 1911, you should be G2G as long as it's held under a LTCH.

I dont see how you could be considered poaching just tell the CO your scouting and youll be fine.

Unless you shoot a critter it's just a walk with a rifle.
Let the CO think whatever the heck he/she wants.

FWIW small game license= could blast groundhogs. AR's work good for that BTW.
And the chucks are rather plump this time of year (55gr watermelon thump I'm thinkin').

if you have written permission to be on the land you armed, you do not even need the LTCH..

Is it written permission, or do you have to be the owner of said land? I'm not questioning you, I'm asking for knowledge sakes.
