I missed this thread 1st go-around. I may not have been here yet. I CCW in that Wally all the time. I'll have to OC next time.

Although the weather is getting cold so I'm normally wearing a coat now. May have to wait until a warm day or next spring. Haven't had any OC problems anywhere else in town though.

Did he realize that stores are private property? Why in the world would someone intentionally cause trouble and get trespass? Follow the rules of the house .... I always use the notion "concealed means concealed" ;)

Sure it does, but concealed isn't required in Indiana.
Nor is it considered a valued right to many these days even amoung gun owners.

A right that will most likely be out lawed soon.

To many are all to willing to cover it rather than stand on the law of the land ( Indiana ) in this case.

They say it is personal choice but what they really mean is it is a bad choice. That very attitude will equate to no choice.

The ones who own and carry are far out numbered by those who don't and or have an irrational fear of guns.

So given the portion of those who do own and carry have decided it is best if every one would just CC it is inevitable that the right to OC will son be done away with.

If our rights are not excersized we will loose them. When we allow others to dictate where and when, we have begun down a the road to being sheeple.

OK so last Saturday 11 October 2008. My lovley wife and I were running around doing errands. I decided early that morning on Open carry for the day. She wanted to go to wal-mart in Brazil to look at some material and craft stuff. It is rumored that wal-mart is phasing out crafts and sewing for good.
As I walked in the large man of a greeter said hi very cordially and I grabbed a cart and walked on. He stopped me and asked if I was law enforcement.
    I replied "no"
He said "well you can't have a gun in here."
I stated "well, you don't have a sign on the door announcing this store policy."
He said "it is store policy sir you cannot have that firearm in this store."
I said "fine then," (kissed my wife and told her I would be in the van) and walked out right next to him. as I passed I told him that I am a law abiding citizen and I am not breaking any laws and I was going to spend some money in their store today.
I waited in the van for a few minutes and just fumed. Just then my wife came out and got in the van with me with a big smile on her face.
She said "I told him if my husbands money isn't good enough for Wal-mart... neither is mine." and she also walked out.
I really wish the bad rap that law abiding gun owners have could be somehow softened to the general public.
Just before this we were at a mini-mart getting drinks. She only had a limited amount of cash and I didn't have any so I was planning on paying with a debit card. There was a sign on the cash register that stated a desired miinimum purchase of $5 if using credit/ debit card. So I mantioned this to the cashier and found the wew did not have enough and went in search of something else. While I was looking for something else to purchase so that I could comply with their desired minimum purchase the cashier asked my wife if she should be worried because I had a gun on my side. to which my wife replied "Who,,, him? No way!" and both chuckled.

Hahah! You should have asked him to PROVE it.

I thought about what to do if the "greeter" told me I couldn't carry in the store. I thought about maybe politely asking if a manager can confirm that it actually is store policy and, if it is, depart politely and take my business elsewhere. However, I'm uncertain of the legal issue there. Does the "greeter" have the legal authority to tell a customer to leave or does that require whoever is "in charge" at the time?

I have had the experience that what the "greeter" in a store said was not actually store policy (although the specific case was not firearms related).

In that case, the manager provided a quick correction and all was well.

I did think about that Joey. i just figured that it would not take long to rack up criminal trespass to my record if i resisted. So I exited instead. :dunno:

My point was (as ATM mentions) that Wal*Mart's actual policy is to follow state law. Greeters and other employees are making this stuff up.

Before I got fat I used to be an avid bicyclist. It irks me greatly to see some bicyclist riding the streets as if they are being asked to be hit. They run stop signs, ride on the wrong side of the street and otherwise disobey all traffic laws. Laws that apply to bicyclist too. This gives all bicyclist a bad name.

Idiots like this guy at Walmat must have been flaunting his carrying of a firearem. Inviting being questioned. After questioning his attitude really got him in trouble. He did give the rest of us a bad example whether he has his right to carry or not.

Being descrete, being cool, acting normally and not calling attenting to ones self goes along way in staying out of trouble regardless of where you are. Sounds to me the person, likely a younger person, was asking for the trouble he receive.

I could say some things to support his right to carry at Walmart or anywhere it is not prohibited by State Law, but I can not say anything to support his stupidity.

When the SpawlMart opened here in Kokomo,They had that same f*cking sign saying no CC.We started picketing them and they took it down. The parking lot of said retailer is one of the hottest spots for assaults, mugging and at least 3 car-jackings now.KPD used to have an on-site incident trailer but was removed due to scaring some sheeple away from the store. It was well used for lots of reports and most of the guys miss it.

never had a problem with an actual store. and i think a good store policy would be to present a permit for the firearm before entering, if they have a problemwith guns.

You could ask the greeter, if they stop you, if they are carring. If so, ask them to walk around with you just in case they let a bad guy in. Ask them if they can tell a bad man when they see one. Who will protect you in the event of a bad thing happening. Ask them for a police escort while you are in the store. See what the Police will tell them about that action. I bet the Police will not give you that escort. Tell them you will sue them, the store and all involved with the "policy" if I or my loved one get assaulted because of being not protected. Better yet, write a memorandum telling them what will happen and give it to the greeter.

We all have choices to make. The greeter can choose to tell you no, but then that greeter has just taken responsibility of your and your loved ones safety while in the store. Tell them that.

This is not legal advise so check with a lawyer first. Let us use the Law for our advantage.

I have had more than one friend that has done this at Walmart and was let in with their CC and without further provocation.
