Inspecting under the connection plate of the old Baldor, looks like someone was trying to reverse the direction without Clue One on hand. Schematic is inside the cover!
But starting there confirmed all the stators seem fine, continuity and similar ohms at least. This rusty old dried up, cast iron relic is going to run!
This motor has a 1" shaft (same bench I reload on, calipers handy), pretty long, like maybe a triple or quad belt pulley with a keyway, 1725RPM. Quality piece! Things were built stronger in the '50s.
It needs bearings, and HOW!
What ever thrust management system in use will need some serious shimming.
I won't know next steps until I get it apart.
Cleaning will be first, so yuck time soon!
