Well, at the top of the article, it says, "many of them illegal".

But then near the bottom, "The guns are being examined to determine whether any have been stolen or used in crimes."

    So I don't know.

    I loved this part.
"He had more firepower than the detectives who arrested him," said Spota.

Yes, cause you can actually use 300 guns all at the same time.

I was unfortunate enough to go to work in NY for a few days. Needless to say I made sure I didn't leave anything behind when I left.

I contributed to the mess they have up there. I just made sure I didn't leave anything of value. If I had it would have stayed. I wasn't going to make any attempt to go back to NY to retrieve it. Once was way too much for me.

300-gun arsenal seized from Long Island, NY, home - U.S. News=

I'm confused as to what crime was actually committed here. Is it illegal to own 300 guns in NY? Do you need a handgun license to own handguns? Nothing surprises me in New York.:dunno:

    The quote from the neighbor:

"Wow!" said one surprised neighbor. "That's a lot of guns. It's scary."

Regardless of how many guns, he's just ONE MAN. How many of the 300 guns could he use at once?

That neighbor is an IDIOT! I'm NOT afraid of my neighbor who has 300 guns. I'm afraid of the thug who has ONE!

But what do you expect from NY? I'm sure Cuomo and his cronies are chest-bumping each other over this "score".

Police were acting on a tip from a gun owner who had taken his weapon to Steiner, said Suffolk District Attorney Thomas Spota.
    ...
Investigators said Steiner had once held a federal gun license, permitting him to buy and sell weapons, but it expired in 2004.

A theory: Steiner was operating as an under-the-radar dealer and "a gun owner" was disgruntled with a deal (or a deal that fell-through) he was attempting to make with Steiner. Then "a gun owner" decides to drop dime on Steiner to gain a level of satisfaction. At any rate, there's more to it than we're reading, I'm betting.

I get so sick of the media doing everything it can to put gun owners in a negative light. They called it a 300 gun "arsenal" like he was going to declare war on someone. Could it not have been a 300 gun collection?

Hey, if he was breaking the law, he deserved to be reported.

Investigators said Steiner had once held a federal gun license, permitting him to buy and sell weapons, but it expired in 2004.
Steiner maintained a business card, prosecutors said, displaying that expired license number.

Steiner had no pistol license for any of the handguns, according to Spota.

Sounds like the lack of FFL didn't stop
Him from pursuing his dream. How much time is he looking at?

There'll be some rich INGOers should that ever come to pass in Indiana.

Saw that about Cuomo bribing citizens to rat each other out. Scary stuff.

I wonder if they provide you a 1099 with your reward to take back 50% of it via taxation. You are a contracting paid informant after all...
