I'm confused as to what crime was actually committed here. Is it illegal to own 300 guns in NY? Do you need a handgun license to own handguns? Nothing surprises me in New York.

Well, at the top of the article, it says, "many of them illegal".

But then near the bottom, "The guns are being examined to determine whether any have been stolen or used in crimes."

So I don't know.

IIRC, in NY you have to have a pistol license to own a pistol, and it lists the specific ones on the license. It's not a blanket license for any pistol.

I contributed to the mess they have up there. I just made sure I didn't leave anything of value. If I had it would have stayed. I wasn't going to make any attempt to go back to NY to retrieve it. Once was way too much for me.
